Chapter 127 What’s Mine Is Hers
Adrian looked delighted, and everything he said was the polite, expected thing.
Then, he shook the hand of the official running it, who glanced over at Mandy and said, with something behind it, “Mr. Pierce has a very good girlfriend. Take care of her.”
Adrian looked over at her, not understanding.
She smiled up at him, then turned to look at Nora, sitting there loose and easy, exactly like somebody who had just lost.
It pleased her. “Thank you for all the help, Nora. That $1,000,000 bangle wasn’t wasted after all.”
Nora looked up at her. “You’re still standing here in one piece, so Adrian’s $100,000,000 wasn’t wasted either.”
“You…” Mandy had no answer for that, so she turned to Julian instead. “Julian lost the bid, but please don’t blame Nora for taking the proposal. Ace winning had nothing to do with her.
“Don’t let this break the two of you up and end in a divorce!”
What she wanted was for him to be disgusted with Nora, for the marriage to end, for Nora to walk away with nothing, and prison on top of it for stealing company secrets!
Julian put an arm around her shoulders, plainly protecting her, and looked at Mandy without any warmth. “What’s mine is hers. Her taking her own property isn’t stealing.”
He watched her face freeze, then looked down at Nora and said it as though it cost him nothing. “It’s one large project. As long as Nora is happy, I can afford to lose 10 more.”
She looked up at that and walked straight into eyes full of a warmth she hadn’t braced for, like stepping into warm water in the middle of winter.
Mandy watched the two of them and how far he’d go for her, and the envy turned into something worse. “This isn’t one simple project. This decides whether the Weston Group goes under. You don’t care about that either?”
Julian looked up. “The Weston Group doesn’t go under that easily. But if Nora wants what the Westons have, I’ll put every bit of it in her hands. You, though…”
He paused and let his eyes drop to her, unimpressed. “Can your Mr. Pierce go that far for you?”
Mandy’s fists closed at the sight of it. “Ace can. Ace would go further than Julian would.”
She wanted a crack between them, so she looked at him and said, “You don’t blame Nora for losing this bid. But what about Madam Weston? What about the rest of the Westons? What about your shareholders? They can’t all let her do as she likes.
“With all of them coming at her, that $100,000,000 she took yesterday won’t be enough to smooth it over, will it?”
Julian stayed exactly as unbothered. “She’s my wife. I’ll handle all of that for her, and it won’t cost a cent.”

Chapter 127 Whats Mine Is Hers
Mandy hadn’t expected him to stand in front of Nora like that, and her face went ugly.
Right then, somebody came over toward Julian.
He lowered his voice for Nora. “I need to do the rounds. Wait in the car and we’ll go home together.”
She nodded. “All right.”
Julian gave her shoulder a light squeeze before he left to talk with the others.
Even in the middle of a conversation, he kept looking over to make sure she was still in sight.
Finished
Whatever the two of them were saying, something in it put a little humor on that hard face, and then the person he was talking to looked over and nodded a greeting at Nora.
She nodded back politely, and the smile on Julian’s face went a shade deeper.
Mandy saw it and couldn’t help looking at Adrian.
He was all smiles talking to people, with fewer of them around him than around Julian, and he hadn’t given her so much as a glance out of the corner of his eye.
The gap between the two men, and the way each of them treated the person at his side, broke something in Mandy, and the envy came out of her at Nora. “Why is it that whoever you end up with, he always puts you on a pedestal?”
Adrian had been that way in her previous life. Julian was that way in this one!
She’d taken the future richest man first this time, so Nora was supposed to be widowed, thrown out with nothing, buried in loan-shark debt from gambling, and selling herself in some bar at the end of it!
Instead Julian hadn’t died, and he spoiled her exactly the same way!
She didn’t understand it, and she couldn’t accept it.
“Because I’m better looking than you, because I’m smarter than you, and because I’m…”
Nora stopped there on purpose and left it hanging.
Mandy held her breath, waiting, afraid the next words would be that she’d been reborn too.
Nora saw how tight she’d gone and laughed at it, then finished. “I’m the legitimate daughter and you’re the illegitimate one. You’re not fit to be seen, and people who wreck other people’s families don’t get to end
well!”
“You…” Nothing set Mandy off like being called illegitimate.
Nora patted her shoulder. “Be as angry as you like. It’s still true.”
