Yette frowned. Then find another investor. It doesn’t have to be Kirby. Nobody’s going bankrupt over one deal
Mandy stayed behind her and spoke up in a small voice. “I could ask Ace to help.”
“He’s dumping you. What help?” Victor’s eyes came back to Yvette. “I’m taking her to the Peregrine tonight and she’s apologizing. Get in my way and you’ll get the same thing she gets. Move.” Nothing in his face said he was bluffing.
Mandy pressed herself flat against Yvette’s back. “This isn’t my fault, it’s Nora’s! You should be dragging her somewhere! You can’t keep taking her side. I’m the one who’s actually yours!”
Yvette didn’t move. “Don’t put Kirby pulling his money on Mandy-”
“Move!” Victor didn’t wait for her to finish. He grabbed Yvette by the arm, hauled her out of the way, and went for Mandy.
“Ah!” One pull took Mandy off the bed and onto the floor.
Victor locked a hand around her arm. “You’re coming to the Peregrine and you’re apologizing. Whatever they want out of you, you do it. Just get them to forgive you.”
Victor hauled her toward the door, and Mandy grabbed at Yvette on the way. “Mom, I don’t want to apologize. Mom, help me!”
“Victor, that’s enough!” Yvette went after him.
Victor shoved her off and kept dragging Mandy toward the hall, his face black. “She apologizes tonight.”
“Mom! Help me!” Mandy was sobbing now.
Yvette got off the floor and caught Mandy’s other arm. “You’re not taking her anywhere. She did nothing wrong. She’s the one who got hurt tonight!”
Victor had one arm, Yvette had the other, and Mandy was the rope in the middle.
Then, his temper went past the point of caring, and the belt came down across Yvette’s back.
She let go and screamed, and then she turned on him. “You hit me! You actually hit me!”
“Get in my way again and you’ll get more of it!” Victor dragged Mandy on toward the stairs.
Mandy hooked her fingers around the doorframe, crying. “I’m not apologizing! I didn’t do anything! It was that bitch Nora who-”
The belt cracked across her arm. She screamed and let go, and the next pull put her flat on the floor.
Victor didn’t stop for that either. He dragged her down the hall like a bag of laundry.
Mandy was shaking so hard she could barely get the words out. “Mom! Help me! Help me!”

Chapter 160 The Belt Comes Out
“མག Finished
Yvette ran after them and saw that Mandy was already at the top of the stairs. One more pull like that and she would go down the whole flight.
The danger of it pushed the words out of her before she could think. “Let go of her, Victor, or I’ll tell the whole world our secret!”.
That stopped him for a second. Then, he thought about Kirby pulling out, and the investors and board members who would follow him, which added up to being frozen out of business for good.
That frightened him more than any secret coming out.
Victor looked at Yvette, cold. “You want to take us both down, go ahead. She is apologizing tonight.”
The viciousness in it stopped Yvette where she stood.
Before Yvette could do anything, Mandy was screaming. Victor had her flat on her back and dragged her down the stairs.
Mandy wrapped both arms around her head to protect her face, screaming the whole way down. “Ah! Dad Dad, please! Ah!”
Kendra had stopped at the bottom of the stairs, staring. Doing that to his own daughter took a kind of cruelty she hadn’t expected out of him.
It only lasted a second. She stepped into his path. “Mr. Sinclair, this isn’t the way. Whatever it is, talk to her.”
Victor’s face stayed black. “Move. This is family business, or you’ll get some of it too.”
Right then, all he wanted was the problem gone. Mandy was going to apologize, and nobody in that house was going to stop it.
Kendra held her ground. “Is this about Kirby pulling out? I found out where he is tonight. We could go now. There might still be a way to save it.”
The belt was already coming up when his head snapped toward her instead. “You know where he is?”
“I do.” Kendra checked the time. “You’d have to hurry. He’s only there for another hour at most.”
Victor saw his opening and jerked Mandy up by the arm. “You’re coming with me to apologize to Kirby, and you’re fixing this, or so help me, I’ll shut that mouth of yours for good.”
Mandy didn’t want to go anywhere, but one look at him and she didn’t dare say so.
Kendra glanced at her. “I’d leave her here, Mr. Sinclair. We don’t know yet why he’s pulling out, and walking her in there to apologize makes him look petty, like a man holding a grudge against somebody’s kid.
“And the way she looks right now, she’ll frighten him and whoever he’s drinking with. That only makes it worse. He could pull the money tonight instead of tomorrow.”
