Reborn to Dodge the Bad Marriage novel Chapter 178

Chapter 178 Answer the Question

u’re not even a hack, so where do you get off calling Gideon one?” Sienna shouted. “He’s brilliant. He can look at a person once and tell them what they have. Don’t you dare talk about him like that.”

Nora filed that away. So Sienna’s in love with Gideon.

She gave her a flat look. “I’m brilliant too. One look at you and I can tell you have a crush eating your brain. no judgment left, and an IQ of about zero.”

“You-” Sienna flushed at being read that easily.

Nora added, “And a stutter. No wonder he isn’t interested.”

That one line put Sienna in tears and made her angrier. “You’re getting on your knees and apologizing to them today!”

Olivia turned to Constance, gentle about it. “Grandma Weston, arguing down here doesn’t help anyone. Let me go up and look at Jules first.

“I don’t know why Nora has it in for me, but Jules matters more than any of this.”

Cordelia caught her arm, angry. “She won’t apologize and she won’t let us near him. Everyone in this room can testify to that. Stop being so good to people.”

Olivia looked at Nora, mild as ever. “Whatever this is, can we settle it after Jules is better?

“I don’t need you to slap yourself. Bend a little and apologize, for Jules’s sake, and my grandmother will treat him.”

She went quieter, and smaller with it. “I’m begging you to apologize. Please.”

Olivia had taken a slap across the face and was still making herself small to smooth things over so Julian could be treated. It made for a remarkable display of kindness.

A dry laugh got out of Nora. “Save the subject change. If I’m keeping you down here, it’s because he’s fine.

“What we’re settling is why the two of you walked in with the antidote already made. Did you know what he had been poisoned with before you got here? And how would you know that, unless you put it in him?

“What’s the point of poisoning him? Keeping your own legend going? Framing me? Or building Olivia into the next great healer?”

Nora’s questions were clear and logical, and before long the whole room was following her reasoning.

Cordelia’s temper showed. “You’re his wife and you’re gambling with his life. Don’t blame a doctor for standing back and letting it happen.”

Olivia was crying now, tears sitting in her eyes, her words shaking. “Suspect me all you want. Let us save Jules first. Much longer and he really will die.

“If my begging means nothing to you, think about Grandma Weston, think about his parents. Don’t make them bury their own son.”

Chapter 178 Answer the Question

Finished

The tears spilled over as she said it, and all of it read as completely sincere, which made Nora the villain

gding next to her.

Julian’s parents looked at each other, then at Constance. She gave a small shake of her head, so they said nothing and let her run it.

Nora was out of patience. “Stop performing sweetness at me, Olivia, and stop using it to steer this conversation.

“Answer my questions properly and I’ll let you see him.

“Not the light version. Dodging only makes people wonder what you’re covering, and I’m not one of the fools you can pull off topic whenever it suits you.”

The only reason any of this had dragged on was that neither of them would face a single question head on. People with nothing to hide answered.

Olivia was genuinely frightened for him. “If I answer, you’ll let me treat Jules?”

Nora nodded without hesitating. “Yes. Answer my questions and I’ll not only let you upstairs, I’ll get on my knees and apologize, and you can slap me 100 times.”

“All right,” Olivia said, with no hesitation at all.

“Olivia.” Cordelia frowned at her. She wanted none of these questions answered.

Nora built an argument the way a lawyer did, and Olivia could easily be walked somewhere that ended badly for her.

Olivia smiled at her grandmother. “We didn’t do anything, Grandma, so there’s nothing to be afraid of. I only want to treat Jules. Whether she apologizes or hits herself doesn’t matter to me at all.”

Cordelia grunted.

“Go ahead and ask,” Olivia said.

“What antidote did you bring for him?” Nora said.

Olivia answered straight away. “The one for ghostbloom pollen. Gideon told me that was the poison, so I brought it.”

Nora smiled, and the sight of it unsettled Cordelia.

Cordelia frowned and kept going anyway. “And the one for blackroot. The appetite remedy you gave him yesterday had blackroot in it.”

Nora nodded. “Any other antidotes?”
