Reborn to Dodge the Bad Marriage novel Chapter 182

Chapter 182 The Story She Tells

Olivia answered flatly. “He’s fine. The poison is out.”

Finished

Cordelia sat down across from her and saw the scrape at the corner of her eye and how swollen both of

them were.

“What happened to your face? And all that crying. Did Nora hit you?”

The tears she had finally stopped came straight back. “Grandma, did you poison him?”

Cordelia had just picked up an antiseptic swab, and her hand paused over it.

“It wasn’t me.”

Olivia didn’t believe it. “Really? Then why was the ghostbloom antidote already in your hands?”

“Olivia.” Cordelia said it hard enough to end the question.

Olivia saw the anger and dropped her head. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have doubted you.

“I just don’t want anything happening to him. Anybody else, fine. Not him.”

Olivia was in love with him, and had been for a long time.

Cordelia sighed and put a hand on her head. “I know. You’re the granddaughter I love most, and what matters to you matters to me. Why would I hurt him?

“As for today, Della is awake, and she confessed to all of it herself.

“She trained as a nurse, so she knows what those compounds do. She poisoned him because she wanted into his bed and she wanted the Weston name, and she would have settled for being kept on the side.

“Then she got frightened that she’d killed him, so she sent me an anonymous message, and I had the antidote ready ahead of time. That’s the whole of it.

“When it came apart on her, she was looking at prison, so she jumped.”

Olivia looked up. “Will Grandma Weston believe that?”

Cordelia let out a small laugh. “I didn’t do it, so of course she will.”

As long as the poison in him went unsolved, Constance would choose to believe her.

And she truly had never intended to take his life.

Olivia decided she believed her too, even with holes running through every part of that explanation.

The next day, once Nora had Julian settled, she drove to Starfall Media for the handover.

Mandy was waiting for her when she got there.

After the humiliation of the day before, she had gone home to a screaming match with Yvette, who had started questioning whether she really could see what was coming, because Julian hadn’t ended up unconscious in an ambulance the way she had promised.

So she was going to prove it.

No wants this company? Let’s see whether she can hold on to it.

Mandy put out a hand, all smiles. “Congratulations, Nora. The company is yours from here.”

Nora lifted an eyebrow. “You’re handing it over awfully fast. What did you bury in it for me?”

Finished

She had squeezed this company out of Victor as part of her marriage settlement. In her last life, Starfall climbed into the top three in the industry and turned out major stars and the biggest names online.

Mandy had come back with the same knowledge and had to know how much money it would make.

So a handover this smooth meant something was buried in it, and the only question was what.

Mandy’s smile turned sweet. “How can you think that of me? We’re sisters. I’d never do anything to hurt you. I canceled a few contracts and I’m taking a few people with me, that’s all.”

“Canceled contracts. Taking people. Which people?” Nora had a fair idea of the play already.

Mandy would strip out the two biggest earners in the building.

Mandy smiled at her. “You’re my sister. I’m not going to make it that hard on you. WolfBait is the biggest streamer we have, and Sabrina Cole is here too. I left both of their contracts alone. They stay with you.”

That surprised her, and her brows drew together. “You’re not taking those two? Then who are you taking?”

Chapter 183 The Two She Left Behind

Finished

WolfBait and Sabrina were the biggest names at Starfall. He streamed to 10,000,000 followers and moved product better than anybody else on the roster.

Sabrina acted. She wasn’t famous yet, but she was beautiful, she could act, she worked hard, and she had just signed a lead role, which had people calling her the next breakout.

Both of them had a future. Barring a disaster, he would end up at the top of the streaming world and she would end up with an award on her shelf.

Mandy is willing to leave those two behind? Nothing about it added up.

Mandy looked at her like she was doing her a favor. “I ran this place before you. I signed too many unknowns, and half the staff got hired through somebody they knew. I didn’t want to leave that on you.

“So apart from WolfBait and Sabrina and anybody who got in on merit, everything stays. The rest are coming with me.”

“Since when are you this thoughtful?” Nora said.
