Rebo to Dodge the Bad Marriage
Chapter 202 Some Father You Are
Mandy clung to Adrian’s arm and kept sweet-talking him.
Adrian held up his injured right hand. “Then do it because I got hurt shielding you from that cake tonight. Go casy on Mandy.”
ora glanced at his hand with open contempt and spoke even more coldly, “I told you already, I never asked ou to do that. And you’re not the reason I’m okay, Julian’s the one who saved me.”
Adrian hadn’t expected her to be this ungrateful. He frowned hard. “Either way, I still helped you. A decent person shows some gratitude, and I’m not asking for much.”
“Hal” Nora laughed in his face. “Don’t try to guilt-trip me, Mr. Pierce. I’m a terrible person!”
She’d run out of patience. She turned to Yvette again, “Quit stalling. The clock’s ticking.”

dare push her luck anymore. She hauled Mandy toward the station doors. “Enough. You’re with me, and we’re turning ourselves in.”
gave Nora a long, hard look. She stared right back with cold, open disgust, and it left him uneasy and tated. But that look was all he gave her. Then, he followed Mandy back into the police station.
Julian pulled the car around, got out, and walked over to Nora. “Ready to head home?”
Nora looked up at him. “Thank you.”
Blake had been her leverage to force Yvette into confessing, but every company that had suddenly pulled its deals had Julian written all over it.
Julian was starting to get used to her stiff politeness. “You’re my wife. Something this small is the least I can do. Whatever you’re up against, big or small, I want to be the first one there to help.”
Nora didn’t respond to that. Instead, she said, “Mandy’s inside turning herself in. Let’s go in and see.”
Yvette dragged Mandy up to an officer. “I’m here to turn myself in. I lied earlier. Gus Merrick never threatened me. I paid him $1,000,000 to start an online hate campaign against Nora!”
Mandy hated every second of this. But when she looked up, Nora was watching, and so was Julian, his face cold enough to frighten anyone.
However much she resented it, however humiliated she felt, she had no choice. She gritted her teeth. “I’m here to turn myself in too.”
Nora had just finished the dinner Miles brought over when she heard Victor shouting frantically. “Mr. Weston! Nora!”
Victor came rushing in, drenched in sweat, with Kendra strolling in behind him at her own pace. Nora barely looked up. “You’re only getting here now, Father?”
“Something huge blew up at the company. I had to deal with that first.” Victor was clearly in a hurry, but he still turned to Julian all smiles. “Mr. Weston, you’re still here.”

Julian gave him a cold look. “Mm.”

ter had hoped to cozy up to him, but one look at that keep-your-distance chill, and he dropped the idea.
He turned anxiously to Nora. “Where are Mandy and Yvette?”
Nora nodded toward the interview room. “They turned themselves in. They’re giving their statements.
Victor still had no idea what this was about. All he knew was that Yvette was being questioned and that scared him. “Are they all right?”
He looked up just in time to catch her smirking coldly at him, and his temper flared. He couldn’t stop himself from scolding her. “Nora, whatever else they are, Yvette’s still your stepmother and Mandy’s still your sister. This was a small thing. Why drag it all the way to the police and make such an ugly scene?”
Nora had heard that kind of thing all her life. She just gave a cold laugh and said nothing.
Julian was seething. He stared coldly at Victor. “That’s an interesting thing to say, Mr. Sinclair. They’re the ones who bullied Nora. She’s the one who got hurt.
“And the first thing you do when you get here is worry about them, then turn around and blame Nora for making a big deal of it.”
A chill ran down Victor’s spine. He rushed to explain, terrified. “Mr. Weston-”
Julian cut him off sharply. “You didn’t even ask how Nora’s doing. You didn’t ask how they bullied her, whether she was upset, or whether she got hurt!”
“And you call yourself her father?” Julian added, even colder.
Victor was sweating bullets under the grilling. “I just meant that Nora’s in a different position now. Everything she does reflects on the Westons. I didn’t want her embarrassing your family. That’s the only reason I got upset with her.”
Julian snorted. “You think the Westons’ reputation is as flimsy as yours? That it falls apart over something
this small?
“All I care about is whether Nora’s been hurt or treated badly. I’m not going to make her swallow it just to protect some so-called reputation!”
Nora was standing off to the side. She was so used to Victor treating her this way that she hadn’t even bothered to argue.
But what Julian said still got to her, and she looked up at him. He actually cared more about whether she’d been hurt than about saving face.
Victor wiped the sweat off his face, looking guilty. Then, out of the corner of his eye, he glanced at Nora. She looked perfectly fine, and he couldn’t help muttering under his breath, “She looks fine to me. Not a hair out of place.”
