Reborn to Dodge the Bad Marriage novel Chapter 212

Chapter 212 The Record-Breaker

Finished

[Mandy Sinclair is the most two-faced snake I’ve ever seen. Shameless. She paid people to trash Nora Sinclair online, then turned around and played the kind, forgiving sister.]

[Adrian Pierce, dump her already. A woman that toxic will ruin your whole life!]

And it wasn’t just comments. People had photoshopped her into fake obituaries and fake nudes, and the abuse went on and on. Her DMs were full of disgusting messages too.

One read, “Your mom was a mistress, so you’ve got the homewrecker gene too. Want me to set you up with some clients?”

Another said, “If money buys whatever you want, how about I pay to screw you? Is a penny enough? Never mind. A rotten, nasty woman like you? I wouldn’t sleep with you for free. You’re toxic!”

Mandy was shaking with rage. She squeezed her phone so hard she nearly crushed it, and she wanted to hurl it across the room.

She was still seething when her phone rang. It was Genevieve. “Ms. Sinclair, what do we do? A ton of our partners just sent over contract terminations, and they’re demanding we pay damages for breach of contract!”

Mandy frowned. “How dare they cancel on us and demand damages! Don’t they know my boyfriend is Adrian Pierce?”

After she hung up, Genevieve and her assistant sent her a flood of chat logs, official termination notices from their partners, and contracts spelling out the damages.

The damages alone came to almost $100,000,000. Mandy nearly passed out!

Everything she’d done to Nora online had come back to bite her twice as hard. She’d brought it all on

herself.

Mandy was utterly exhausted, but she had to deal with this mess first. Everything else would have to wait.

For days, Mandy ran herself ragged putting out fires. Adrian wasn’t speaking to her either, and she was way too busy to go after Nora.

Meanwhile, the whole thing had given Nora’s company and Sabrina a nice bump in popularity. People thought Nora was a loyal, stand-up boss.

Good partners kept showing up at her door on their own. The diamond ring Sabrina endorsed was flying off the shelves, and it had become the hottest style around and the number one seller.

Nora had more deals to choose from than she knew what to do with, and potential partners came through her office in waves.

Mandy’s company was right upstairs, and the contrast couldn’t have been sharper. Nora was on top of the world while Mandy was at rock bottom, and it nearly drove Mandy out of her mind.

Nora had just wrapped up a meeting with a partner and taken a sip of water when Chloe knocked and burst in, practically glowing. “Ms. Sinclair, Preston Voss is here!”

“Preston?” Nora was a little surprised. “What’s he doing here?”

In the reception room, Nora looked at Preston, who was sitting across from her. He was dressed casually in athletic wear, which made him seem even more down-to-earth. He didn’t act at all like the hottest leading man around.

“So what brings you here today, Mr. Voss?” Nora asked.

Preston smiled warmly. “I’m sorry to just drop in like this without making an appointment

Nora smiled and took a sip of coffee. Preston couldn’t help noticing how gracefully she held the cup. She was so beautiful that even something that simple was a pleasure to watch.

“Here’s the thing,” Preston said. “Last time, I told you I wanted to do a movie with Sabrina, and you didn’t say yes. So I figured I’d come talk to you about it in person. It’s a really good movie.”

His assistant set a script down in front of Nora. “Here’s the screenplay, Ms. Sinclair.”

Preston smiled. “Once you read it, I think you’ll be interested.”

Nora set down her cup and picked up the script. It was called Skyward.

The title alone jogged her memory. In her previous life, that movie had been a massive hit. It grossed $6,300,000,000 and set a new box office record!

“So who did you originally have in mind for the female lead?” she asked.

The reason Nora remembered the movie was a fight she’d had with Adrian. He’d offered her an olive branch and asked her to go see it with him, saying it was great and had broken records.

But then she’d had a work dinner with a male client, so Adrian canceled their movie date and hit her. They never did see it.

Still, she’d looked into it. Preston had played the male lead, but the female lead hadn’t been Sabrina. It had been…

Before she could remember, Preston spoke up and broke her train of thought.

“As a favor to Mr. Pierce, we’d planned to go with Genevieve Ward from Mandy Media.

“But after working with Sabrina, and after everything that just happened, I think she’s the better fit, both as an actress and in terms of reputation.”

Nora hadn’t been able to remember, but now it came right back to her. “Genevieve was your original pick?”

That was right. In her previous life, Genevieve had starred opposite Preston in that movie. She’d looked a little different from the Genevieve of today, probably because she’d had some work done later on. But that movie had made her a star.

“Yes,” Preston said.
