Juan’s voice was low and sexy, thick with restraint.

The back of Nora’s neck went hot. She leaned weakly against him, annoyed at herself for being so easily

rattled.

It wasn’t the first time he’d kissed her, but every time, he left her flushed and breathless, her whole body buzzing with pleasure.

And yet the thing she hated most was exactly this, being kissed without being asked, like he had every right. But with Julian, she kept letting her own rules slide, over and over again.

Nora looked up at him. “That’s rich, Mr. Weston. I didn’t ask you to kiss me, and now you’re asking me what you should do?”

She gave him a sly little smile. “What, did I force you to kiss me?”

Her cheeks were flushed from his kiss, and she looked so irresistible that Julian wanted to throw caution to the wind and kiss her all over again.

But he held himself back and swallowed hard. “You know that’s not what I meant.”

Nora had hoped to use the teasing to change the subject, but Julian obviously wasn’t having it.

She pressed her lips together. “And you know what I mean. I don’t like it. Besides, next year, we’re-”

Before she could finish, someone flipped a switch, and the dim conference room was suddenly flooded with light.

Nora and Julian both turned toward the door. Miles was standing there with a group of international business partners, and every one of them was staring at the two of them, wide-eyed and curious.

Her face went bright red, and she froze on the spot.

Julian instinctively cupped the back of her head and pulled her against his chest, shielding her. Then, he looked up and shot Miles a cold glare.

Miles gave an awkward laugh. “Sir, this is our conference room. The meeting starts in five minutes.”

How was I supposed to know he’d be this hungry for her? I step away for a few minutes, and he’s in here making out with Mrs. Weston! Miles thought.

This was Julian, the cold, self-controlled boss who never left a single button undone. And here he was, pinning Nora to the wall and kissing her like he was ready to drop his pants right there.

Everything Miles thought he knew about his boss had just gone out the window.

Nora was blushing furiously. She pulled out of Julian’s arms and turned to leave.

Suddenly, Julian slid an arm around her shoulders. She looked up at him, confused, just as he spoke in a deep, clear voice.

“This is my wife, Nora Sinclair.”

ora’s eyes went wide, and she stared at him in disbelief. Miles and the company executives were staring too stunned.

Julian glanced down at her with a smile. Then, he turned to the international guests and introduced her again, just as proudly.

The guests all smiled and greeted her. “Nice to meet you, Mrs. Weston!”

Nora was shocked and confused that Julian was introducing her so openly, but she smiled and said hello back. “If you’ll excuse me, I have something to take care of.”

Before she left, she leaned in close and murmured, “You just told everyone who I am. You’d better figure out what you’re going to say to Grandma when you get home.”

For the sake of Julian’s treatment, Constance had insisted on keeping Nora’s marriage into the Weston family out of the public eye. With Julian announcing it out of nowhere like this, Constance would definitely be upset. Then again, Cordelia and Olivia would be even angrier.

Nora felt like all her plans had just been thrown into chaos, and her head was spinning.

Julian kept his arm around her shoulders and leaned down to her ear. “You’re my legal wife. You’re Mrs. Weston in the eyes of the law. If I want to tell the whole world who you are, I don’t need anyone’s permission.

“I’ll handle Grandma. Besides, if people know who you are now, it’ll be easier for them to accept you after I’m gone, Mrs. Weston.”

Then, he kissed her on the cheek and let her go.

Nora could feel everyone watching her with even more curiosity now, She gave them a gracious smile, then turned and left.

She’d only just reached the door when she ran into Cordelia.

Cordelia stood there with a dark expression, watching Nora with a sharp, steady stare.

The two conference rooms were right next to each other. Julian hadn’t said it loudly, but he’d said it clearly, and standing outside, Cordelia had heard every word.

Nora smiled at her. “Dr. Blithe.”

Cordelia kept staring at her. She shot Nora’s lips a dark look, then put on a kind, grandmotherly smile. “Ms. Sinclair.”

Nora started past her. She needed some air to process Julian suddenly telling everyone she was his wife.

But as she passed, Cordelia shifted and blocked her way. They were standing very close.

Cordelia was old and a little stooped, but she still had a commanding presence.

She spoke low enough that only Nora could hear. “His condition is only under control for now. If he wants to be completely cured, he still needs me and Olivia.
