Reborn to Marry My Best Friend's Uncle novel Chapter 11

Annie had not expected her name to be at the top of the trending list the next day, in the most unflattering way possible.

The cause of all this was Cecilia's pathetic little stunt the day before.

On her phone screen, a heavily edited video was spreading like wildfire.

In the video, Cecilia was wearing a thin dress, looking fragile and pitiful, while Annie's cold expression was glaringly obvious.

Everything Annie said to expose Cecilia's little act had been cut out.

The comments were already piling up, fueled by a narrative that someone had deliberately crafted.

"So Dr. Frost and Ms. Lambert were each other's first love and were driven apart? How tragic."

"Annie is downright vicious! She thinks she can do whatever she wants just because she's rich? Not only did she steal someone else's boyfriend, but now she also wants to drive a person to their death!"

"Ms. Lambert was literally kneeling and begging her. How cold-blooded can Annie be to act so heartlessly?"

"I feel so bad for Ms. Lambert. She's being bullied even though she's incredibly ill. Annie is acting like a real-life evil side character."

Overnight, the whole narrative flipped.

Annie went from being a victim of betrayal to the vicious villain everyone hated.

Cecilia, on the other hand, became the weak, sickly woman bravely enduring oppression from the powerful.

Annie scrolled through the disgusting insults, her expression icy and mocking. She was all too familiar with such tactics of twisting the truth.

If Cecilia thought she could turn the tables with this, she would be laughably naive.

She was about to call her lawyer to get the full, unedited footage released when a knock sounded on the door.

"Ms. Steward, Mr. Frost is here. He's downstairs waiting for you."

It was Gary Manning, the butler. He sounded respectful, yet troubled.

Sean? What the hell was he doing here?

Annie knitted her brows, alarms going off in her head. She quickly got out of bed and rushed to the door.

"Where's Grandma?"

Annie couldn't let Irene meet Sean. She had a weak heart. If Irene were to get worked up again because of Sean, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Although Gary didn't understand why Annie reacted so strongly, he still answered, "Mrs. Steward Senior is resting upstairs. She asked not to be disturbed."

Only then did Annie let out the breath she'd been holding. That was good.

Suppressing her annoyance, she regained her composure.

He was utterly stunned. The Annie he knew had always been gentle and soft-spoken. She was the type who barely raised her voice.

How could she hit him?

He held his burning cheek, staring at Annie in disbelief.

Annie shook off the numbness in her hand before glaring at him coldly.

"Sean, save your sickening speech. If you want to know who's really behind all this, go ask your perfect little Cecilia. Don't come at me."

She turned toward the equally shocked Gary. "Gary, see him out."

Sean finally snapped out of his daze when he heard that. He glared at Annie as though he wanted to tear her apart. But when his eyes met her icy, unyielding gaze, he felt his chest tighten.

It suddenly struck him that this Annie wasn't the same Annie he remembered.

Sneering, Sean straightened his slightly wrinkled collar, slipping back into his superior attitude.

"Alright. I see how it is."

He stepped closer to Annie, his voice low and menacing. "I'm warning you, Annie. If you dare hurt Cecilia again, I'll personally pay Mrs. Steward Senior a visit to talk about the Steward family's idea of proper conduct."

With that, he stormed out of the Steward residence without so much as a backward glance.
