Reborn to Marry My Best Friend's Uncle novel Chapter 164

The hospital staff hooked Annie up to multiple monitors in rapid succession, the machines settling into a steady rhythm of beeps.

William's expression hardened with focus as he moved through the exam with practiced precision, while Christian stood off to the side, his gaze fixed on the pale face resting on the bed.

Seconds dragged by.

Finally, William slipped off the stethoscope and let out a long breath. "Relax. She doesn't have any internal injuries. It's a temporary blackout from the impact, plus some superficial wounds. She's fine."

Those words loosened something in Christian that had been wound too tight for too long. Then, the fury hit.

He couldn't let Annie wake up and face any of this. She needed uninterrupted rest.

Christian lifted his bloodshot eyes to William and instructed, "Sedate her."

William paused for a moment, but he didn't ask why.

He knew Christian well enough to understand that once he decided something, he wouldn't change his mind.

Seeing Annie injured and the killing intent in Christian's eyes, William could more or less piece together what had happened.

"Alright," William said, turning to prepare it.

Moments later, the sedative was injected.

With that shot, Annie would sleep steadily for at least a full day and night.

The nurses filed out, leaving only Christian and Annie in the room.

Christian walked to the bedside and leaned down, gently brushing his thumb over the cut on her forehead.
