Christian looked down at Sean. He had no interest in answering that question.
Christian lifted his foot off Sean's chest, pulled a handkerchief from his suit pocket, and wiped his fingers with measured calm.
Without sparing Sean a single glance, he turned and walked out of the room.
Michael immediately followed. "Mr. Easton is waiting for you in the hospital reception room."
In the VIP reception room on the top floor, Easton stood by the window. He stood straight, holding a cup of coffee that had long since gone cold.
When he heard footsteps behind him, he turned slowly.
When he noticed the faint specks of blood on Christian's lapel, his eyes narrowed, though his expression remained composed.
"Mr. Parker."
Christian gave a cold smile. "You get news fast."
Easton set the cup down on the table beside him. He carried himself with restraint, his voice calm and unwavering.
He said, "Sean was clearly at fault. Still, he is a member of the Frost family. Ms. Steward suffered because of this. We can't deny our responsibility in this. We'll handle this strictly and give you an explanation."
Christian pulled out a chair and took a seat, crossing one leg over the other. "How?"
Easton knew that this matter wouldn't end peacefully unless he could give Christian an answer he was satisfied with.
He thought Sean was a complete idiot. Of all the people to provoke, he had to go after Christian's woman. Sean was good for nothing except stirring up trouble.
Easton weighed the costs and made his decision.
He said, "We have an overseas energy project with difficult conditions and year-round isolation. I'll assign Sean there immediately to oversee it."
He paused, then added, "And we'll take care of Ms. Steward's medical expenses and compensation."
Christian tapped the armrest with his fingertips, slow and rhythmic. He could have killed Sean. But what would Annie think if she ever found out?
Would she be afraid of him? Would she see him as someone dangerous and start to pull away?
