Reborn to Marry My Best Friend's Uncle novel Chapter 33

Since this was Annie's first time stepping into the headquarters of Parker Group, she couldn't help but feel a flicker of nervousness.

This was Parker Group, after all—the leading corporation in Jynston, and a heavyweight even on the international business map. Its empire spanned multiple sectors, and its subsidiaries dominated every field they touched.

Just as she entered the opulent lobby, someone approached her with a respectful nod. It was Michael.

"Ms. Steward."

He'd been waiting for some time, wearing the perfect smile of a corporate polish. He added, "The director of Parker Group's haute couture brand, EVL, is expecting you."

Annie nodded at him and followed him toward the elevators.

In the conference room, a woman with immaculate makeup stood up. "Hello, Ms. Steward. I'm Linda Lopez."

Linda, the director of EVL, was highly impressed by Annie's design concept, especially by the stunning piece from the recent contest. "We're looking forward to this partnership. I'll be counting on you for our new season of staff uniforms."

Annie nodded and smiled confidently. "Rest assured, Ms. Lopez. I'll give it my best."

Discussion of the partnership details went smoothly. By the time Annie stepped out of the conference room, she felt considerably lighter.

She walked down the hallway, but as she passed a glass-walled conference room, her steps came to a sudden halt. She caught a glimpse of a silhouette she knew all too well.

Christian? What was he doing sitting at the head of the conference table?

He was dressed in a pristine, impeccably tailored suit. His presence was commanding, and he was completely focused on the report his team was giving.

The composed, decisive man she was looking at was nothing like the gentle man she knew.

His tone was so steady that not a trace of guilt was heard.

Annie studied him and wondered if it could be true. In the corporate world, filling in for a superior in meetings was quite common, and perhaps the suit was provided by the company for such occasions.

Her slight suspicions temporarily faded.

"Get back to work then. I'm heading home now."

She flashed him a smile and turned to leave, but she hadn't taken more than a couple of steps forward when her pocket began buzzing wildly in her pocket. It was a call from Gary.

A heavy sense of dread washed over her as her heart skipped a beat. She immediately picked up.

"Bad news, Ms. Steward! M-Mrs. Steward Senior suddenly fainted! The ambulance just took her away!"
