Reborn to Marry My Best Friend's Uncle novel Chapter 44

"What nonsense are you talking about?"

"Nonsense?" Annie let out a cold laugh.

"You, the so-called professional, forgot the most basic medication rules?"

She watched his face darken and continued, "Spare me that disgusting look. From now on, if you ever show up in front of me again and disrupt my life, I promise I'll make every hospital and every patient in Jynston know exactly how you treat human life. You treat it like it's nothing."

A wave of anger shot straight up Sean's spine. There was no way he prescribed the wrong medication. That was the biggest insult to his character and his career! Someone had clearly messed with it.

He suddenly thought of the man who had held Annie earlier.

"Did your new fling say something to turn you against me?" Sean practically ground the words through his teeth.

"You trust a random guy who came out of nowhere?" he asked.

Annie's eyes turned cold. "Sean, watch your mouth. We have nothing to do with each other anymore. Please show some respect."

Right then, a sweet, delicate voice cut in. "Sean!"

Out of nowhere, Cecilia appeared in the restaurant. She hurried over, her expression a mix of grievance and forced strength. She had followed him here on purpose. She wanted Annie to see exactly who belonged by Sean's side now.

Cecilia sat down right next to Sean, clinging to his arm, then shot a triumphant look at Annie. "Annie, I know you still like Sean, but he's my boyfriend now. Asking him out in the middle of the night like this is not very appropriate, is it?"

Cecilia's voice wasn't loud, but loud enough for the nearby tables to hear every word.

In seconds, several curious, gossip-hungry gazes turned toward them. There was never a shortage of spectators for a mistress-catching scene.

Annie looked at Cecilia's two-faced expression, and suddenly she laughed. The two of them really were a perfect match. One was selfish and fake, the other a vicious, two-faced woman.

"Sean!" Cecilia stumbled from his push. Watching him chase after Annie without hesitation made her stomp her foot in fury.

Annie stepped out of the restaurant just as her phone buzzed in her pocket. It was a text from Christian that read, "Where are you? Do you need a ride?"

Annie paused, looking at the words, then replied, "No."

She slipped the phone back into her bag when a hand suddenly grabbed her wrist from behind. That familiar touch made her stomach twist.

She yanked her hand free.

The disgust in her eyes hit Sean like a slap, igniting his temper all over again. "Annie, don't be ungrateful!"

He snapped, "I brought Dr. Lawson here for you!"
