Reborn to Marry My Best Friend's Uncle novel Chapter 86

The elevator door opened slowly. As soon as the elevator stopped at the floor of the OBGYN department, the heavily disguised Maeve stepped out first.

Cecilia made her choice almost instantly. Without a second thought, she followed after her.

Her body was extremely weak, but she couldn't let this opportunity slip.

She watched Maeve pause briefly at the nurses' station, seemingly registering something before turning and entering an office.

Cecilia took a deep breath, suppressing the pain and discomfort surging through her. She put on a perfectly worried expression and hurried to the nurses' station.

"Hello, miss. The lady who just went in is my sister. My family's very worried. Is she alright?"

The nurse glanced at her. Seeing her pale complexion and anxious expression, she didn't suspect a single thing.

She checked the computer and replied, "Oh, your sister is fine. She's in good health. She's just a little over two months pregnant and came for a routine check-up."

A little over two months pregnant. Cecilia silently repeated those words over and over again in her mind.

It turned out that Maeve was pregnant. If this news were to get out, it would send the entire entertainment industry into chaos.

At that very instant, Cecilia thought of Amelia's strange request. It was something about designing looser silhouettes and relaxed waistlines.

So, that was it. That was the real reason for her request.

It seemed that the bitch Annie had learned about this, too! That's why she used this information as leverage to force Maeve to hand over the endorsement.

Cecilia's nails dug deep into her palms, but a strange smile slowly spread over her face.

"Ms. Hudson, there's no need to get so worked up," she said, stirring her hot beverage elegantly. "I'm one of Mosaic Studio's managers, too. Naturally, I want what's best for the studio."

She lifted her gaze. Those eyes, which were usually pure and innocent, were now filled with scheming.

"We've lost EVL's contract. And now, we've lost the deal with Maeve, too. Mosaic Studio's reputation is already in shambles from the plagiarism scandal. If we lose Maeve's order on top of that, do you think Frost Group will keep investing in a studio with no value?" she asked.

"And all of this is because of Annie."

Cecilia set the spoon down. She leaned forward slightly, her eyes fixed on Roxanne.

"Ms. Hudson, after all your effort in grooming her, what did you get in return? She walked away without saying a single word, leaving you with a mess to clean up."
