Evelyn was covered with sweat, and Amelia grabbed a towel to wipe her dry. She then started playing games on her tablet while Amelia accompanied her.

During dinnertime, Jasper called them to ask where they were. It was about time to head to the campsite for a barbecue.

Amelia brought Evelyn over to the campsite. It was crowded during the weekends, and there were many people barbecuing at the campsite.

It took Amelia a while to finally spot Jasper and the gang.

However, when she walked over with Evelyn, she realized that Christopher and Nicole were right next to them.

She had to walk past their barbecue pit.

Nicole was seated next to Christopher.

“Chris, my hand still hurts from being scalded at the summit…”

Christopher was patiently and thoughtfully taking care of her and serving her barbecued meat.

Amelia could see a tenderness in his eyes whenever he looked at Nicole. She retracted her gaze, filled with derision. Christopher really cared a lot for Nicole.

Nicole looked at the barbecue pit Amelia went to. “Seems like Mr. Langley and his colleagues are all here, too. Their company launched a new system yesterday, and everyone’s fighting to collaborate with them.”

Luke nodded in agreement. “Mr. Langley is something, indeed.”

He was a top talent in the industry.

“Mr. Langley,” Nicole called out to him as she stood up. “What a coincidence to bump into you here. Shall we get together?”

Jasper glanced at Amelia, who responded with a shrug.

Winona glared at Nicole, “Dream on! My stomach churns with disgust at the sight of you!”

Nicole’s face froze.

“How dare you talk so rudely to my mom!” Nathan stood right in front of Nicole, clearly trying to defend her.

Amelia’s heart skipped a beat. She had never seen Nathan have like this. Whenever she had a conflict with someone over work, Nathan never defended her like this.

She suddenly found it all so ludicrous. She thought Nathan would at least feel some sort of affection for her as a Stepmother. But now, she realized that all the sacrifices she had made during those five to six years counted as nothing to both the father and son.

She headed to the reception to ask for some and decided to drop by and check in on Jasper and her colleagues. If any of them were drunk, she would be able to offer some help.

However, the moment she opened the door to her room, she saw Nicole and Christopher holding Nathan’s hand as they walked into the same room.
