Christopher looked indifferently at her and continued talking to Nicole, “Yes, I’ll be there in a jiffy.”

After ending the call, Christopher drove off before Amelia could say anything.

“Stop the car,” Amelia said.

Christopher was steering the wheel with one hand while resting the other arm on the open window.

He looked straight ahead and asked lazily for her destination, “Where? At your rental apartment?”

Amelia was in no mood to tell him her destination. “I want to get out of the car.”

Christopher said plainly, “Grandma wants me to send you home.”

That meant that if it weren’t for Dorothy, he wouldn’t bother fetching her anywhere. He was simply fulfilling the task Dorothy had given him, not that he really wanted to ferry her around.

He didn’t want to have to handle Dorothy’s fit of rage if she were to question him about it.

Christopher drove Amelia all the way to her rental apartment. Amelia opened the car door and walked out without any hesitation.

Christopher didn’t seem to care about the change in Amelia’s attitude toward him. The second she got out of the car, he sped off.

Amelia heard his car sputtering off in a hurry and smirked.

He was anxious to pick up Nicole. If that were the case, why did he bother sending her back home in the first place?

She was getting tired of all the lip service he was giving.

The next day, the moment Amelia stepped into Nova Nine, Jasper approached her, looking displeased.

“Last night, Christopher and Nicole met me and Mr. Hale. During the summit, Mr. Hale rejected Nicole’s offer, so this time, Christopher brought her to him to talk terms. Now, they’re not asking him to accept Nicole as his disciple. Instead, they just want him to give her technical guidance. As long as he agrees to it, he’ll invest hundreds of millions in Institute 511 and even Nova Nine Technologies.”

Jasper was boiling mad.

He scoffed. “She keeps trying to go through the back door because she’s not good enough. She doesn’t have what it takes for Mr. Hale to accept her. I can’t believe she still wants to join Nova Nine! They’re basically saying that as long as she makes the team, Christopher is willing to accep any condition.”

Amelia listened to him in silence.

She knew Christopher cared very much for Nicole, but didnt know that it was to such an extent. It seemed as though he was willing to splurge his entire fortune just to give her whatever she wanted.

“What’s with that look on your face?” Jasper asked. “How can you remain so calm?”

He was fuming mad.

“‘Nicole’s dream hasn’t turned into reality yet, so he has to find a way to help her realize it,” Amelia said indifferently.

To be honest, Christopher was powerful and influential, and he had what it took to talk terms with the professor.

He was a strong, ambitious entrepreneur.

No matter which field he was in, he was capable of gaining clout and the right to speak.

As long as he wanted to, he could help Nicole achieve anything she wanted.

Amelia had done so much for the Zephyr household over the five to six years of their marriage, but she was nothing compared to his childhood sweetheart.

“I can’t say for sure what the professor is thinking,” Jasper said as he took a deep breath. “But she can forget about setting foot into Nova Nine.”

Amelia fell silent.

Even if Nicole couldn’t join Nova Nine, she’d just go somewhere else. She might go to Cloudway Technologies, or…

Whatever it was, Amelia was bound to be at loggerheads with Nicole and Zephyr Group.
