Chapter 119
Amelia lowered her head at her uncle’s question.
Felix didn’t know that she was divorcing Christopher.

When she first married into the Zephyr family, Adelaide was still alive. Amelia always shared only the good news and not the bad, and everyone in her family thought she was doing well in the Zephyr household.
She also had Dorothy backing her up.
Now that Felix’s health wasn’t in good condition, Amelia didn’t know how to tell him the truth out of worry that it might trigger his condition. She didn’t know how to tell Felix that Christopher never cared to participate in any of their family affairs.
Christopher clearly knew about Adelaide’s death anniversary event, since Dorothy booked a private room and called them out for lunch specifically to talk about it.
He simply didn’t want to come.
In previous years, when Adelaide was still around, Christopher reluctantly came with Amelia to visit Adelaide. After Adelaide passed on, he never visited the Lanes ever again.
Amelia changed the subject. “Let’s set the altar first.”
Just then, someone from the Lane family announced, “Madam Dorothy Stone is here.”
Dorothy was over the age of 90 and had difficulties walking with a cane. She was carrying pastries that Adelaide loved, as well as some salt-baked chicken.
Amelia approached her and greeted, “Grandma.”
Dorothy smiled kindly at her as she handed Amelia the things. “Put them on the altar. Adelaide loved salt-baked chicken while she was alive, and I woke up early this morning to prepare it. Thankfully, I was able to finish preparing it just in time.”
“That’s so thoughtful of you, Grandma. My grandma would be so glad to know.”
Claire and Felix came over to greet Dorothy as well. Having hot met for a while, they took some time to exchange pleasantries and have small talk.
Throughout their conversation, Felix’s gaze kept drifting to the door.
Dorothy was the only one from the Zephyr family who came
Dorothy saw Felix looking distracted and said, “Stop looking out. Chris will be here in a while.”
Felix snorted, but said nothing further. He didn’t know what Christopher was thinking, disregarding even Dorothy’s third death anniversary.
Claire was aware of things between Amelia and Christopher and tried to smooth things over. “Let’s put the items on the altar.”
Evelyn rolled up her sleeves and said, “I want to help too….”
She was an adorable and sensible child whom everyone loved and praised.
Amelia bent over and handed her a plate of fruit. “Put this on the altar. It’s for your great-grandmother.”
Just then, Dorothy walked over to Amelia. “Mia, call and as Chris where he is right now.”

Amelia looked down as she focused on displaying the plate of fruits on the altar and said softly, “If he’s busy, there’s no need for him to be here.”
She wasn’t even expecting him to come. She had seen through him from what had happened in her past life.
In this life, she really didn’t want to have anything more to do with him. As such, she didn’t really care that he wasn’t present for Adelaide’s third death anniversary.
Dorothy looked stern. “No way! We’ve already agreed on this. He’s just busy at work and will come in a while. If he dares to feign ignorance with me on this, I’ll break his legs!
Amelia’s brows furrowed.
Dorothy was stubborn and would probably pester her about it if she refused to call Christopher.
She didn’t want to cause trouble during her grandmother’s death anniversary. As such, she walked under a tree nearby and gave Christopher a call.
The phone rang for a while before he answered it and asked leisurely, “What’s up?”
His voice sounded cold, distant, and calm.
Dorothy had already told him about the death anniversary event today, but he sounded as though he had completely forgotten about it.
Amelia could just imagine the look on his face right now. All the words she had prepared to speak were stuck in her throat, making her feel suffocated.
She felt as though she was begging him to come.
“Chris, come over and help me see if this works. Who are you on the phone with?”
Nicole’s voice sounded through the phone.
They seemed to be shopping for something.
Amelia took a deep breath and hung up without any hesitation. She walked back, her face dark with displeasure.
Everyone was milling around, being busy, but they were all quietly waiting for Christopher to arrive.
One hour passed, yet he was still not there.
Dorothy was very upset.
Amelia lowered her head, not surprised at how things were going.
Winona said coldly, “Who does Christopher think he is, making everyone wait for him? Does he not know about parting amicably? Why is he acting so high and mighty when you two are getting divorced?”
“It’s fine,” Amelia comforted her. “It’s normal that he’s not here.”
Once again, he was keeping Nicole company today.
