Reborn Without You (Amelia and Christopher) novel Chapter 148

After sending Christopher and Nicole off, the stableman heaved a sigh of relief.

"Let's pray that Ms. Randall will be fine. Mr. Zephyr himself was injured, but he looked so anxious about Ms. Randall's injuries. They look like a very loving couple."

Amelia remained silent.

Nathan was still sobbing as he glared furiously at Amelia.

Amelia took a deep breath and looked at the blood stains on the floor.

"Mom…" Evelyn held Amelia's hand. "It looked so dangerous just now. Are you really alright?"

"I'm fine."

Nathan started to yell.

"How could she be injured?! My dad was the one who got injured!" he said indignantly. "If you weren't here, Hurricane wouldn't have gone crazy. When my dad and mom came here two days ago, Hurricane was perfectly fine. If Mom is very badly injured, Dad would be very upset!"

Amelia's brows were tightly knit throughout the time.

Just now, everything happened in a rush. It really looked as though Christopher had saved the wrong person.

But whether that was true or not, it remained a fact that he got injured while she escaped unscathed because of him.

"Enough of that already. Can't you see that my mom's frightened by the incident, too?" Evelyn glared at Nathan, her own eyes red with unshed tears.

Nathan pouted, but said nothing more. His stepmom wasn't injured at all. What right did she have to be upset?

Yet, Nathan's words pierced through Amelia's heart. Compared to Christopher's cold betrayal, Nathan's betrayal dealt her a greater blow.

This was how the son she gave her all for and spent time with for five to six years treated her.

Amelia didn't care that Nathan chose Nicole, since Nicole was indeed his biological mom. It was only right for him to acknowledge his mom, who birthed him.

However, she didn't expect Nathan to be so filled with hatred and grievances toward her.

She couldn't help but lament and wonder the kind of ingrate Nathan might end up being had she continued raising him to adulthood in her past life.

Evelyn nodded.

She knew that Nathan called another woman "Mom".

Mom would never want him back again.

Evelyn hugged Amelia tight. "I'll always be your good daughter, Mom. You'll be my one and only mother in this whole world."

Evelyn was too young to know the words to comfort Amelia, but every word she spoke out of her limited vocabulary was filled with love for her mom.

"Dad is injured," Evelyn said as she pursed her lips, tears welling up in her eyes. "He was bleeding so badly…"

She was worried about him.

Amelia understood.

No matter what had happened, she was unharmed while Christopher was suffering from his injuries.
