Chapter 15
Christopher’s expression remained calm and unreadable, as if Amelia’s emotions and the look in her eyes didn’t even register.
Every weekend, she had wanted him to take the kids on outings or to the amusement park, but he always claimed to be busy. Now she realized that aside from openly taking Nathan abroad, he was using those same weekends to fly overseas and spend private time with Nicole.
Amelia’s eyes darkened with bitter amusement.
The more she understood, the more she realized that six years of her devotion had counted for less than feeding a dog.
She pursed her lips. “Well, then. I wish you both happiness.”
Christopher’s gaze darkened slightly. “Do you know what you’re saying?” (1)
Her eyes met his, steady and unflinching. All she could see in his eyes was cold detachment as he enunciated each word deliberately.
“Nikki isn’t a mistress.” 1
Amelia laughed. “Is that so? Then please hurry up and—”
“Amelia!” Winona’s voice cut through. “Been looking for you everywhere.”
Amelia couldn’t finish her sentence. She wanted to tell Christopher to hurry up and sign the divorce papers.
Winona stepped forward, caught sight of Nicole and Christopher, and scoffed.
“Scumbag and gold-digger. What’s there to talk about? Let’s go.”
Nicole was stunned. “Chris, Mia seems to have a serious misunderstanding about us. Why is Mia so hostile toward me, even though I haven’t done anything since returning? Maybe we should just avoid each other from now on, so your marriage doesn’t lose its happiness.”
“No need,” Christopher said, his dark, magnetic voice calm and certain as he watched Amelia’s retreating figure. “She won’t.”
Winona had been grumbling and cursing the entire way, steam practically coming out of her ears.
Amelia smiled faintly. “We’re getting divorced anyway. Let them be.”
Back in the lounge, Jasper and Amelia went over the situation logically.
“Nicole deserves a proper evaluation as an opponent. She’s not just a pretty face. Studying abroad has given her real skills, but I’ve already seen some of her work and abilities. She’s not a match for you at all. At her current level, she’s not even as capable as you were at twenty.”
Winona perked up at that, “See? That woman is just a homewrecker. How skilled can she be? Christopher must be blind!”

The competition began.
Amelia pulled on her cap and mask, concealing her face.
The challenge was a 24-hour extreme design task. At the end, the judges would evaluate technical feasibility, innovation, and team coordination. Every second counted.
When it came time for the presentations, each team had to face a panel of expert questions.
Nicole answered with ease, a smug, self-satisfied smile tugging at her lips. She was certain this round was practically in the bag.
In the audience, Luke smirked. “That’s Nikki for you. She’s maxed out all her skills.”
After Nicole’s team finished, she stepped down and slid into the seat next to Christopher, right in front of all the cameras. She leaned close to him.
“Just wait until I take first place! Then you can be proud of me, and you can hang my trophy at your place. As your buddy, I’m making you look good.” She paused and said, “Mia probably won’t be jealous, right?”
Luke snorted. “Amelia? That airhead? What could she possibly be jealous of? If she had any real skill, she’d be winning first place herself. The same goes for her daughter. Both of them are useless, slow-witted, and mean- spirited.”
Christopher’s eyes flicked over Luke, cool and unreadable.
Luke stopped talking immediately.
Next up was the Aurora Vision team.
Using a voice changer, Amelia answered in a calm and measured tone, each word deliberate. She carried herself with such effortless composure that it felt like she had come solely to steal the spotlight.
Nicole, who had just been chatting and laughing moments ago, suddenly went stone-faced.
