Chapter 16
A flicker of unease rose in Nicole’s chest.
She remembered Aurora Vision as just a group of students, still in school. She had barely taken them seriously. How could such a team possibly hide a pro of that caliber?
“Feeling nervous?” Christopher glanced at her.
Nicole forced a smile. “Nervous? Not at all. In this kind of competition, the only ones who should be worried are my opponents.”
Even if Aurora Vision had a powerhouse hidden within it, the group was still inexperienced.
With that thought in mind, Nicole allowed herself a small measure of relief.
The 24-hour extreme challenge allowed for breaks, but no one wanted to waste time. They all napped in shifts, catching only a few moments of rest.
When it finally ended, Amelia felt like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders. She leaned back in her chair, rubbing her temples, utterly exhausted.
The panel of judges consisted of experts from various aerospace departments, who scored each team using a detailed scoring system. The tension in the room while waiting for the results was almost unbearable.
Finally, the announcer stepped onto the stage, holding the list of results. After a brief preamble, he declared, “I hereby announce that the champion team of the ISSDC regional round is-Aurora Vision!”
Thunderous applause erupted from the audience.
Nicole’s face drained of color. How could this be?!
The host continued, “And the best individual performer within the team is-Sophia!”
“Sophia?” The crowd murmured in excitement. “No wonder her answers were so impressive! Her innovation and technical skills are far beyond this level. She should be at a national research institute!”
“Hasn’t she competed in this competition before? I thought she’d been scooped up by the government. And now she’s back?”
The prodigy who once lit up the aerospace world had vanished from the public eye, leaving everyone speculating. Some said she had burned out and stepped away voluntarily. Others whispered she had been recruited by some top-secret organization and had gone into hiding.
Christopher listened to the chatter, his expression unreadable from start to finish.
Luke glanced at him, worried for Nicole. “Looks like Nikki has finally met a real rival.”
He frowned at Christopher’s calm demeanor.
“How are you not even worried? Aren’t you afraid-‘
“I
“Talents recognize each other,” Christopher said calmly. “They might make excellent teammates.”

Luke’s eyes widened in realization. “So you saw this coming all along.”
In business, the best talent must be recruited. If someone refused, it only meant the offer wasn’t enough or wasn’t positioned right.
“If Sophia is willing to team up with Nikki, that team could take on anyone without fear.”
Christopher’s gaze remained fixed on the giant screen, his fingers tapping rhythmically against the armrest. Sophia would undoubtedly be a sought-after talent, but her future performance would determine everything.
Nicole’s expression had darkened ever since the results were announced. She had heard of Sophia before. People said she was a prodigy born for Valoria’s aerospace industry.
Nicole was unimpressed, thinking it was probably just hype. She was curious to see for herself who this woman really was.
“Alright, Chris, you have to recruit this talent. I’ll bring her along to rise to the top,” Nicole said with a grin.
“Navitech’s CEO, Adam Spencer, is here today. Want to go meet him? If Institute 511 doesn’t work out, Navitech is a solid alternative,” Luke suddenly spoke up.
Nicole pursed her lips. “Sure.”
Her status now carried real weight. She had the credentials to meet the CEO, and who knew-maybe he’d been looking to recruit her all along.
