Amelia couldn't quite tell what Christopher was thinking.
She burst out laughing.
She knew that it was impossible to wake someone who was pretending to be asleep. If he were bent on playing dumb, he would feign ignorance no matter how much she tried to explain things.
An old fox in the business world was naturally adept at such things.
He planned to first be generous in investing 60 million dollars in Ascent Corporation before condoning ACE Technologies' act of snatching away Ascent Corporation's partners and suppliers. With his investment, Ascent Corporation would naturally stake everything on the funds and push the project forward.
The 60 million dollars turned out to be detrimental instead of helpful to the company.
When Ascent Corporation went all out, pushing the project through, ACE Technologies would then deprive them of all resources.
Christopher was bent on bankrupting and destroying their company.
Amelia smirked and said nothing.
However, the cold look in her eyes was enough.
Christopher remained silent for a long time before saying, "If a company leader's decision-making remains stuck in a rut and not forward-looking, no amount of investment or strong backing would stop the company from being doomed. That's especially so in the technology industry."
Christopher's gaze landed on Amelia's face.
"Like rowing a boat upstream, if you stop moving forward, you fall back."
That was all he was going to say.
He wasn't deliberately targeting them.
Amelia clenched her fists and exhaled out loud.
She knew where Christopher was going with what he said, but her mother's new project was an excellent one. If it weren't for ACE Technologies' malicious attacks, things wouldn't have turned out this way.
She wasn't here to seek justice.
If one were bent on being biased, justice would never be served.
She naturally knew her place in Christopher's heart and wouldn't bother coming here just to end up humiliated.
She was here just to understand his stance, and his stance was clear.
He was clearly biased toward Nicole and her family. Their personal affairs had seeped into business.
She took a deep breath and looked at him.
With that, she turned to leave.
Nicole stood stunned.
"What's going on?" Nicole asked Christopher. "Is Mrs. Zephyr throwing a fit and asking for a divorce again? Did you make her angry again?"
Christopher looked at Amelia walking away and the door that shut behind her. He retracted his gaze and said indifferently, "Things aren't going well with her mother's company, and she's throwing a fit."
Nicole paused for a moment. Suddenly, a thought came to mind.
"Chris, Mrs. Zephyr does look mad. I didn't know she was at the hospital too. My mom was just so happy that she brought the celebratory cake here. I had no idea those clients belonged to Ascent Corporation. Had I known, I would have told my mom…"
She took a deep breath.
"It's pointless saying all these. If you can help Ascent Corporation, you should. Why don't I tell my mom not to be so vicious?"
Christopher said, "The resources are free-moving."
Nicole understood what he meant.
Resources were free-moving and wouldn't always be in the hands of the same person all the time.
