Amelia went back to take care of her mother. Then, she went back home to care for Evelyn and coax the girl to sleep.

Afterward, she switched on her laptop and looked through Ascent Corporation's list of project resources.

The project on AI medical assistants was very forward-looking indeed.

After the very first manufacturer refused to work with them and ended up getting poached by ACE Technologies, she managed to find some manufacturers abroad. Currently, they needed a few partners to work with.

They would need about two to three partner companies of around the same scale, or a single large-scale company.

That night, Amelia consolidated a list of Ascent Corporation's resources and gaps.

As they fought to push the AI medical assistant project forward, they faced a cash flow crisis that slowed things down a lot. Her mother had to mortgage their villa and secure a bank loan of 20 million dollars.

However, the sum was only sufficient to help tide them over for the time being. She had to find a good partner during this extra time.

And so, Amelia started to send emails to all the CEOs she knew in this industry to propose a partnership.

The next day, Amelia woke up to prepare breakfast for her mom and Evelyn before sending Evelyn to her kindergarten.

Amelia realized that Evelyn didn't seem so keen on going to her kindergarten. She was always dragging her feet, reluctant to leave the house.

Now that they were at the entrance of the kindergarten, Evelyn kept looking back at Amelia and stopping in her tracks.

Amelia's brows furrowed as she crouched down low and looked at Evelyn. "What's the matter? Are you unhappy in school? Is someone bullying you?"

Evelyn bowed her head and said, "No. I just feel tired from the classes."

Amelia looked at Evelyn and said, "If anyone bullies you and makes you upset, do tell me or your teacher, got that?"

Nathan would boast about how his mother knew how to fly a plane and worked as a scientist contributing to the country.

His friends were all so envious.

However, some of the children wanted to be in the same team as Evelyn instead.

Nathan immediately chimed in, "My dad doesn't even want her! Whoever is in the same group as her will be very unlucky. Very soon, she'll be out of money. She won't be able to attend the same school, either. She's trying to usurp my and my mom's position in the family, causing my mom to be stuck outside and unable to come home. She's wicked through and through!"

No one dared to join Evelyn's team after hearing Nathan out.

The teacher saw all the children in groups, with the sole exception of Evelyn. She furrowed her brows and urged Evelyn to join another team.

"Teacher, we don't want to be in the same team as Evelyn!"

"Evelyn, join the class monitor's team instead…"

Before the teacher could finish her sentence, someone cut her off, "Teacher, our group is full!"

"Evelyn Zephyr is a wicked girl, and we all don't want to team up with her!" another said.
