Reborn Without You (Amelia and Christopher) novel Chapter 165

Chapter 165

Just her luck to bump into Luke.

Well, it was inevitable that they would bump into each other in the same hospital.

Thankfully, her mother was going to be discharged tomorrow and recuperate at home instead. Claire might have been upgraded to the VIP ward, but staying at home was bound to be more comfortable than at the hospital.

“Don’t say that,” Luke said. “Are you headed to the VIP ward? You’ve got Nicole to thank for making way for your mother, or you’ll have to squeeze in a three-person ward. Since Nicole is injured too, she’ll just have to share a room with Christopher.”

Amelia’s face remained unchanged.

She was no longer surprised at the news of them staying together.

She headed upstairs with the umbrella in hand, not saying a word.

Luke watched on as Amelia left, her chin stubbornly tilted up.

She was a beautiful lady and looked smart to boot. If she kept silent, she could easily fool others with her

appearance.

A shame she was nothing but a brainless dimwit!

Luke scoffed and retracted his gaze before getting into his car and leaving the hospital.

Meanwhile, Amelia finally reached her mother’s ward and felt relieved to see that her mother looked fine.

“It’s raining so heavily outside, you didn’t have to come to visit me,” Claire said.

“I can’t rest easy if I don’t visit you today,” Amelia said.

“Where’s Evelyn?” Claire asked. “Is it fine to leave her alone at home?”

“Winona’s helping me watch her,” Amelia explained. “Don’t worry about me. Taking care of yourself is the priority right now.”

“Go visit your uncle tomorrow,” Claire reminded her. “There’s a nurse taking care of him at the hospital, and I’m really worried about that.”

Amelia nodded. “I’m on leave from work tomorrow. I’ll keep him company tomorrow morning.”

Chatting with her mom made her feel better.

Claire suddenly said, “Christopher came to visit me today.”

“Christopher?”

Amelia didn’t expect him to come see her mom, and her brows immediately furrowed with suspicion.

“What did he come here for? Did he try to make things difficult for you?”

“No,” Claire said as she held Amelia’s hand. “He just came over for a quick look and even gave me some

supplements.”

Claire’s gaze shifted to the bedside table, and Amelia followed the direction of her gaze. She noticed the boxes of supplements piled on the table, every single one of them expensive.

Amelia sometimes really couldn’t figure Christopher out.

He came to visit her mom, knowing that she was ill. Yet, he had condoned ACE Technologies’ eagerness to acquire Ascent Corporation.

Come to think of it, it all made sense.

He had always been one to observe proprietaries and be thoughtful in all things. At the very least, he would put in an effort to keep up appearances.

Visiting Amelia’s mom didn’t involve him having to choose between the two. Whenever it came to that, he would always choose Nicole and her family without fail.

Claire noticed the mixed feelings broiling in the depths of Amelia’s eyes.

“If you don’t want to have anything to do with him, you can return all these supplements. I insisted on not accepting them, but he put them down and left.”

“Okay,” Amelia nodded.

She stood up and did a quick calculation of everything, which added up to around ten thousand dollars.

Amelia stood up and said, “I’ll be back soon.”

Claire nodded.

Amelia headed straight to Christopher’s ward and knocked on the door.

It was Nicole who came to the door.

“Mrs. Zephyr?” Nicole said in surprise. “What are you doing here at such a late hour?”

She sounded as though she was blaming Amelia for interrupting them.

“Where’s Christopher?”

Nicole stood stunned for a moment.

At the next second, she said with a smile, “Christopher’s getting his wounds treated, and he’s not in here right now. Just tell me if there’s anything.”

Amelia furrowed her brows.

Why was he getting his wounds treated in the middle of the night?
