Amelia furrowed her brows, her shoulders tensed up, and her feet rooted to the ground.

Did she hear him wrongly?

“What did you say?”

She couldn’t believe her ears.

Didn’t they just mortgage the villa? How could someone come to take possession of their asset so quickly?

Amelia opened the door, her brows still furrowed in confusion. She didn’t know specifically when her mom mortgaged the villa.

Just then, Claire came downstairs to discuss with the bank officer.

Amelia’s face turned cold as she heard their conversation. She looked at her phone to check the balance of her various bank accounts.

The bank officer made it clear to Claire that they couldn’t grant her a grace period unless she could pay off the capital and interest amount. Otherwise, someone would be purchasing the house this afternoon.

Just then, a luxury car drove over and stopped right before the villa.

Amelia looked at the incoming car, and her eyes turned cold at the sight of the familiar car model and plate

number.

The car door opened. Nicole came out first before helping Christopher out of the car.

“Chris, this is the villa my mom and I have our eyes on. It’s suitable for the elderly since it’s so peaceful and quiet around here. Let’s check it out and buy it if it’s suitable.”

Christopher looked at the entrance of the villa and straight into Amelia’s eyes. His eyes were cold and distant as usual, and he didn’t seem surprised to see her there.

Amelia found the situation laughable.

Clearly, right after she had slapped Nicole, here he was with Nicole, looking at a villa and purchasing it.

Christopher knew full well that this villa belonged to her mom.

He was here to humiliate them.

How ironic of him to be so heartless and merciless to his wife!

“Mrs. Zephyr?” Nicole saw Amelia and Claire talking to an officer. “Does this villa belong to you? What a

coincidence.”

Nicole looked rather surprised by the turn of events and turned to look at Christopher.

“Is Mrs. Zephyr short of money? Are you mistreating her?”

Amelia burst out laughing. The cheek of this woman to act innocent at this point!

She smiled warmly.

“Mrs. Lane, if your company is struggling to stay afloat. Let my mom help you out. If you collaborate with her company, I’m sure you’ll overcome the crisis. You don’t need to sell your villa.”

“There’s no need for that,” Claire said, her face dark with displeasure.

The bank officer asked, “Have you agreed on how to settle this?”

“Chris, Mrs. Lane might be offended by my offer. She probably really wants to sell this villa,” Nicole said. “What do you think of this villa?”

Christopher stuck his hands in his pockets and said indifferently, “Not too bad.”

Amelia clenched her fists.

He was truly merciless, bringing Nicole here to take possession of their villa and leave them with nothing.

“Shall we buy it, then?” Nicole continued.

“Who’s selling it?” Amelia looked at the bank official. “We’ll go through with the repayment process.”

Claire grabbed Amelia’s arm and said in hushed tones, “From where are you going to get so much money?”

The bank official stood stunned. “Well…”

Christopher looked at Nicole and said flatly, “Let’s check out another property.”

Nicole looked confused. She was here to take possession of Claire’s villa. Ascent Corporation was clearly in bad shape, so how could Amelia suddenly have enough money to repay the loan?

Her brows furrowed slightly, but she said, “Alright, then. Let’s look at a new property instead. Wouldn’t be comfortable staying in a house that someone else lived in before, anyway.”
