Amelia looked at Nicole and said with a smirk, “Is that so? Ms. Randall, don’t you love second-hand goods?”

Her gaze flitted to Christopher, standing next to Nicole.

Nicole liked her men second-hand, just like her property.

Amelia’s words were dripping with sarcasm. Nicole’s face turned dark, the smile on her face fading.

Christopher, on the other hand, remained unperturbed, as though he wasn’t the subject of Amelia’s snide remark.

The bank officer stood at the side, watching as the scene before him unfolded.

Despite the exciting turn of events, he remembered clearly the task he was here for. He turned to look at Amelia. “Ms. Sinclair, shall we proceed with the repayment, then?”

“Okay.”

Just then, Nicole’s phone rang.

Her brows furrowed when she saw the caller. She stepped away to answer the call.

The bank officer was bringing Amelia through the repayment process, and Amelia was about to hand her bank card to him when Christopher beat her to it.

“Use this card instead.”

The bank officer was confused by his move.

He first brought a woman here to take possession of the property, and now he was helping this other woman to repay the mortgage loan?

Amelia looked coldly at Christopher.

What was he trying to do? Humiliate her? Showing her pity?

She didn’t care for his pity.

It seemed as though she had to grovel like a beggar before he would be generous enough to spend some money

on her.

Amelia handed her card to the officer. “I’m not related to this man in any way. Just ignore him.”

The bank officer took Amelia’s card.

After the repayment went through, Amelia held her mom’s hand and re-entered the villa, slamming the door hard behind him.

They didn’t give two hoots about the people outside.

The bank officer left after the repayment was settled.

Christopher kept his card, his effort to help Amelia and Claire disregarded. Even so, his face didn’t change much.

“Chris?” Nicole walked back to him after her call. “Is it over already? Does Mrs. Zephyr really have that much money?”

In response to her question, Christopher retracted his gaze and said nothing.

Instead, he said, “You should check out more options. This villa district may not be that good. How about Rhymington Villas? Do you like that district?”

Nicole was taken aback by his suggestion.

Rhymington Villas was where many socialites and celebrities lived. The villas in the district were sold at sky- high prices and were well sought after.

“It’s great, but way too expensive. We probably won’t be able to buy any villas there…”

Christopher said indifferently, “Pick one you like.”

A bright smile broke across Nicole’s face. “If you say so, then. Thank you, Chris!”

She had always been like this, straightforward and never beating around the bush. She knew that to him, she was clearly more important than Amelia.

Back in the villa, Amelia could hear every single word they said since they were conversing right outside the door.

Christopher was indeed generous with Nicole, just for the sake of making her happy.

He immediately found a better option for her in a bid to outdo them. He could just buy a property in Rhymington Villas just like that.

Amelia lamented the many years of her sacrifice, which were nothing in Christopher’s eyes.

Claire’s face was dark with anger. She wanted to throw the door open to tell them off, but Amelia stopped her.

“We’re going to be divorced very soon,” she said calmly.

It was certainly not worth getting angry over them all the time.

Claire could hardly swallow the lump of indignation in her throat. She had never heard about the terrible state that Amelia’s marriage was in.

“Mia…”

“I’m fine, Mom,” Amelia said with a comforting smile.

“The money…” Claire began. “Did you borrow it from Jasper?’

Amelia shook her head. “It’s the patent fee. Coincidentally, it was transferred to my account today.’

She had earned a total of 50 million dollars. She was no longer short of money.

Amelia would slowly earn the money she needed, together with the power and influence she desired.
