Reborn Without You (Amelia and Christopher) novel Chapter 191

Chapter 191

Caleb was looking back at them, a glass in hand.

Jasper’s interest was piqued.

Last time, Caleb called Jasper and was rejected. Instead of being disheartened, here he was again, looking fully prepared as he approached them.

It was obvious that he was sincere in his desire to collaborate with them.

During Alchemax’s press conference, he had clearly rejected them. For some inexplicable reason, he had changed his mind since then.

What was more, Caleb and Christopher were good friends and came from the same social circle.

Jasper looked at Caleb and said with a half-smile, “If we have time, we’ll contact you.”

He neither rejected nor accepted Caleb’s proposal, his stance toward Caleb ambiguous.

Nova Nine had already struck up a partnership with Navitech in the area of new materials. What it needed right now was a manufacturer as a partner.

Above all, Jasper wanted to stand up for Amelia.

Caleb didn’t look very surprised at being rejected. He simply smiled and said, “I’ll wait for your call then, Mr. Langley.”

He left after exchanging a few pleasantries.

Caleb wasn’t the sort to linger around and overstay his presence.

Jasper looked at Caleb’s retreating figure and chuckled. “There’s something fishy going on there.”

Caleb and Christopher were from the same social circle. How much better would Caleb be?

Still, Caleb was much kinder to Amelia compared to Luke and the rest.

Jasper just found it strange that Caleb’s attitude underwent such a huge change after the press conference.

He couldn’t help but be in awe of Caleb’s adaptability to circumstances, which made him a brilliant

businessman.

Amelia smiled. “Alchemax is a strong contender. We can keep it in consideration.”

In business, benefit and profitability were king; there was no need to bring in personal grudges. That would be

too narrow-minded.

Government officials began going on stage to deliver their speeches, sharing the latest policies and exhibition items.

Amelia spoke to a few companies that didn’t seem keen on a collaboration. As the industry summit neared its end, they decided not to stay on any longer.

As they approached the exit, a waiter holding a tray of drinks bumped into Amelia. The drinks splattered onto her.

The waiter apologized profusely to her. “I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean it.”

“Are you alright?” Jasper asked her anxiously.

Amelia wiped the liquid away from her dress and assured him, “I’m fine.”

Later, Jasper and Amelia left the industry summit without any significant takeaways.

The government’s plan was clear. They had to improve and enhance their own production line as soon as they could.

That presented them with a challenge.

Jasper noticed Amelia trying to cover up her chest area and took off his jacket, which he handed to her.

“Take it.”

“Thank you.”

Coincidentally, they saw Christopher and Nicole leaving the summit with Adrian. They looked like they were having a very pleasant chat.

It went without saying that they must have struck up a cordial partnership.

Jasper’s eyes narrowed.

Nicole noticed Amelia and Jasper, and smiled smugly at them.

The partner they had wanted so desperately was speaking so respectfully and politely to her right now. That was proof enough that they were on completely different levels.

Seeing Jasper draping his jacket over Amelia’s shoulder, Nicole remarked, “Looks like Mr. Langley really loves Ms. Sinclair.”

Luke smirked. “Beauty won’t last forever.”

Whatever Amelia depended on to climb to where she was would be the very reason for her downfall.

“Even keeping a flirtatious woman like her at home would be a disgrace,” he added.

Caleb overheard their conversation, then glanced at Amelia and Jasper.

Instead of chiming in and agreeing with their remarks, he said, “Nova Nine has excelled in its projects, though.”

“Are you thinking of working with them?” Luke said with surprise.

Caleb was well-known to be a workaholic, but was there really a need for him to stoop to working with Nova Nine?
