Chapter 217
“I think he might have twisted his ankle. Take him to the hospital and get it checked.”
It was expected of Caleb to be present at the funeral.
Caleb thanked Amelia once more and turned around with the boy in his arms.
The drizzle never stopped, and the chilly wind kept blowing outside.
After they left, Amelia rubbed her arms, feeling slightly cold.
Just then, someone draped a black jacket over her shoulders. The warmth from the jacket seeped into her, making her feel much better.
Amelia shuddered. She turned around and saw a pair of cold eyes.
“Time to head in,” Christopher said rather emotionlessly.
Amelia’s face remained unmoved when she saw that it was Christopher. She removed the jacket and flung it back to him.
“I don’t need it.”
He caught the jacket and stared at her with his deep, dark eyes, silent for a few moments.
Eventually, he said, “Head in.”
The Randall family received many guests who wanted to pay their respects to Mr. Zephyr. Most of them were here on account of the Zephyr family.
As the host, the Randalls and their close relatives sat at the main table.
The Zephyrs sat at the surrounding tables.
“Nicole, come and sit here,” Lucia said.
She made Nicole sit right next to Christopher.
Dorothy didn’t make a fuss out of that. Both families were on good terms, and it was acceptable for members of both families to sit anywhere they liked.
Amelia returned from the washroom and realized that there were no seats at the table left for her.
She wasn’t adamant about eating the meal. She wouldn’t insist on sitting at the same table as Christopher, either.
Amelia was about to turn to leave when Dorothy called out to her the moment she spotted her.
“Mia, where were you? Come sit next to me.”
Left with no choice, Amelia sat next to Dorothy.
Guests from other tables came by for small talk and to raise a toast.

Chapter 217
*25 Bonos
The Zephyrs were indeed powerful and influential. It might have been easier to reject the offer to drink, but not so at a funeral.
Christopher responded to all the guests, but with this precedent, all the other guests started approaching him to raise a toast as well.
Everyone knew how close both the Zephyr and Randall families were, and that Nicole and Christopher were childhood sweethearts.
However, that was inappropriate to bring up at a funeral. All they commented about was how much Christopher cared about the Randall family.
Amelia felt as though she was invisible throughout.
She didn’t really care about the guests at the funeral, anyway. With no one bothering her, she felt more carefree.
After a round of drinks, Christopher was starting to feel tipsy. He picked up his jacket, walked through the crowd, and headed downstairs to try to sober up.
Amelia put down her spoon, signaling that she was done with her meal.
She decided to take her leave. Having finished the meal, she was about done here.
The Randalls’ residence was situated halfway up a mountain, and it was too late for her to hail a cab.
Amelia didn’t want to stay a minute longer with the guests at the funeral.
She decided to get into the car for some peace and quiet. Jasper called just now, asking her to join him for a meeting tomorrow with a partner.
Amelia wanted to take the chance to review the test data.
Nigel was around the corner, and the car door was unlocked, allowing Amelia to open the car door.
Suddenly, a pair of strong arms pulled her into an embrace. A strong smell of alcohol wafted into her nose.
It was very noisy outside the car, what with all the guests and the funeral music blaring incessantly through the speakers.
Christopher’s head pounded from all the buzz.
He rested his chin on Amelia’s shoulder.
