Chapter 216
Amelia simply stared at Stephanie.
Her eyes were so chilly, Stephanie was momentarily stunned.
Amelia never used to show them such an attitude. Somehow, she seemed to have changed.
Stephanie opened her mouth to say something, but she was at a loss as to what to say. The atmosphere at the funeral was suffocating.
Amelia retracted her gaze and announced, “I need the washroom.”
She didn’t want to pursue the matter. The Zephyrs’ attitude toward her was no longer her business.
Dorothy looked at her with a smile. “Come back quickly.”
Lucia chuckled.
“When I ask my daughter-in-law to do something, she either does this or that badly. Other people’s daughters- in-law can do everything, from chores to tea brewing.” She looked darkly at Amelia. “And now, she’s throwing a tantrum after I say a few words.”
Dorothy corrected her, “She’s not your servant. If you need a servant, go hire one. Have I ever ordered you around like a servant?”
Lucia didn’t have any words to rebut Dorothy’s claims. She eventually fell silent.
Amelia didn’t want to waste her time with the people at the funeral. She decided to head out for some fresh air and only return at critical moments.
Outside, a boy was playing with a remote-controlled airplane.
It seemed like the remote control was malfunctioning, and he couldn’t get the airplane to fly. The little boy looked disappointedly at his airplane.
“Your airplane isn’t waterproof,” Amelia said as he approached her. “The remote control short-circuited when it came into contact with water. Naturally, your plane can’t fly anymore.’
The boy looked up, and his eyes lit up at Amelia’s explanation, as though she were his savior.
“Really?” He stood up and asked, “Ma’am, can my airplane be fixed? My uncle bought it for me…”
The boy looked to be about four to five years old, similar in age to Evelyn.
Amelia could try her hand at fixing it. Fixing a toy like this wasn’t difficult; it was just that she didn’t have any tools around.
Amelia rubbed the boy’s head affectionately. “If I get the chance to, I’ll give you a new one next time.”
“Thank you so much, ma’am!” He danced for joy.
He jumped around with his plane in hand, but the floor was slippery from the rain, and he slipped and fell.

Amelia hurriedly held him steady.
The boy’s eyes quickly filled with tears as he looked sadly at Amelia. “Ma’am, I think I can’t move my leg…”
He sniffled, looking pitiful with unshed tears in his eyes.
“I’ll take you to the hospital to get it checked,” Amelia said, hauling him in her arms.
She turned around and crashed into a man.
“Uncle!” the boy called out.
Caleb looked at the boy’s sullied clothes. “What happened? Don’t get the lady’s clothes dirty, too.”
He took the boy from Amelia.
After understanding what happened, he expressed his gratitude to Amelia.
“Thank you. Micah’s a cheeky boy. I hope he didn’t cause you much trouble.”
Amelia shook her head.
It was a complete coincidence that she bumped into Micah outside. She didn’t expect him to be Caleb’s nephew.
What a coincidence, indeed.
“Uncle, this lady was very nice to me. My remote-controlled airplane was spoiled, and she offered to fix it. It’s just bad luck that we don’t have any tools around. She seems very capable.”
“Is that so?” Caleb chuckled. “Did you thank her?”
“Thank you, ma’am.”
“It’s nothing,” Amelia said with a smile.
