Reborn Without You (Amelia and Christopher) novel Chapter 223

Chapter 223

“Chris, do you trust me?” Nicole asked.

He nodded. “Yeah.”

“Between Megatech and Nova Nine, which of the two do you think will turn out superior?”

Christopher looked up at her and said unhurriedly, “In the future, Megatech will be on par with Infotech.”

His answer was obvious.

Infotech’s status in the industry was unshakable.

Amelia listened calmly to their conversation as she walked out of the door with some documents in hand. She walked past them, effectively ignoring them.

“Ms. Sinclair, why didn’t you say hi when you saw us?” Nicole asked the moment she spotted Amelia.

“Looking down on your friends after being promoted to a leader in Nova Nine?” she teased.

“Friends?” Amelia scoffed as she turned back to look at them. “Are you even worthy?”

She refused to accord them the respect they thought they deserved.

However, Nicole wasn’t about to let Amelia’s words sour her good mood.

“Indeed. We’re soon to be competitors in the same industry. I suppose competitors can’t be friends.”

Amelia smirked as she turned to leave.

Jasper looked at Amelia entering his car. “What’s the matter?”

Amelia buckled her seatbelt and answered him, “I bumped into them registering their company with the bureau.

Jasper remarked, “I guessed that. Infotech has already announced Megatech’s opening the day after tomorrow on their official website. They’re preparing to recruit top talents in the industry.”

He showed Amelia his phone screen.

Infotech was trying to rally support for Megatech and back them up.

“Their opening ceremony will be held at the School of Aerospace. A clear attempt at trying to recruit talents. They also sent Nova Nine an invitation card, inviting us to be there. Shall we go together?”

Jasper wanted to seek Amelia’s opinion on this.

They seemed to be throwing the gauntlet with their invitation.

Jasper was worried they might seem fearful of them if they didn’t attend the opening ceremony.

Amelia glanced at the invitation card. “Why not? They want to rally support at a school. Since Nova Nine needs talents as well, it’ll only be beneficial for us to attend the ceremony.”

It was a rare chance for them to go to the School of Aerospace, which might be a good opportunity for them to make some headway in the market.

Nova Nine may not lack talents at this point, but there would surely be many huge companies attending the opening ceremony held at the School of Aerospace.

Jasper rubbed his temples, feeling an impending headache. “It’s quite laughable and rather distasteful to have to go.”

Amelia smiled.

“What’s so distasteful about it?

“Jasper, I’m no longer related to Christopher in any way. I feel nothing, no matter who he’s with. Once the cooling-off period is over, we’ll head to the clerk’s office to get our divorce certificate. I’m no longer his wife, and we no longer have anything to do with each other. Nothing he does will affect me. I feel a lot more relaxed and carefree.”

Now, Amelia didn’t feel emotionally burdened.

Having come round to things, she saw her goal clearly and knew her own place.

Jasper looked silently at her for a few seconds. Realization dawned upon him, and he smiled.

“I was being petty.”

He had always thought of Amelia as too weak.

“I always thought that you hadn’t let go of. I was always careful when mentioning their company or any one of them because I was afraid you’d be upset.”

Letting go of a relationship that lasted for so long was tough. Affection wouldn’t fade overnight, either. It would still be difficult to let go of it emotionally.

However, Amelia had died once.

She refused to experience what she had gone through in life a second time, or to waste any more affection on Christopher.
