Chapter 230
Nicole looked in the direction Luke pointed at.
As he had said, the disdain and disgust in Mr. Hale’s eyes were clear for all to see.
“One can’t stay in the technology industry for long without any real capabilities. Even an assistant has to have some level of competence,” Nicole said with a half-smile.
She crossed her arms before her chest and retracted her gaze.
“She probably won’t last long in Nova Nine.”
Luke looked down at Amelia from the bottom of his heart. She merely had good looks, a cover for her filthy heart.
“I’ve never seen her this ambitious in the past.”
Luke looked at Nicole and analyzed things.
“It was only after you came back home that she saw how outstanding you were at work and how glamorous you looked, and decided it was time for her to strive in her own career. She’s no match for you, though. She even threw a hissy fit with Christopher!”
He scoffed.
“She probably never expected Christopher to really divorce her, and she’s probably in a mess right now. She doesn’t know her place and completely overestimates herself. I’d like to see for myself if she’d really go ahead with the divorce after the cooling-off period, or if she’d come crying and begging Christopher to take her back.”
A small smile hung on Nicole’s lips.
Amelia was certainly no match for her. They weren’t even on the same level and couldn’t be compared at all.
Nicole looked at Christopher standing next to her.
He was looking at his phone, seemingly replying to some work-related messages.
Nicole wondered if he had heard their conversation at all.
However, Christopher had never been interested in anything related to Amelia.
She combed her fingers through her hair and said with empathy, “It’s understandable for a woman to have dreams, but if the dreams are unrealistic, that’s just wishful thinking.”
Looking at Christopher, she added, “Every woman has her own strengths. Some are destined to be a powerhouse at the workplace, while others are meant to be their husbands’ strong support back at home. I sometimes really admire Ms. Sinclair for being so good at managing the house.
“Unlike me. I behave more like a man, and I’m clueless about those things. I’m sure my husband will have lots of complaints against me after I get married.”
Nicole patted Christopher on the shoulder.
“You’ll soon be single again after the divorce is confirmed. If you can’t get yourself another wife, why don’t you

make do with me?” 3
Christopher arched a brow, his expression sharp and incisive. He simply chuckled, not offering Nicole an
answer.
Nicole knew that as a refined gentleman, he made it a rule not to gossip about women at any public events.
Even if they wanted to get married, Christopher would be very cautious and pay utmost attention to it instead of mentioning it carelessly at a place like this.
This showed how important Nicole was to him.
She leaned in close to Christopher and began speaking in hushed tones.
4
“Chris, you’ve been married to Ms. Sinclair for so many years, and she’s been taking care of the children at home. Even though she didn’t do a good job raising Nathan, you’ve got to give her credit for her hard work. There’s no need to drive her to a corner. If she really gets fired by Nova Nine, I can offer her a position as an assistant. She can do odd jobs for me. She did help me take care of Nathan after all…”
Christopher finally looked up at her, a cold look in his eyes.
“Taking care of Nathan is her responsibility. As for work, that depends on whether she’s willing or not,” he said slowly. 1
Nicole nodded, looking pensive.
Indeed, Amelia had taken Nathan in back then. Naturally, it was her responsibility to take care of Nathan.
Was Christopher telling her not to take pity on Amelia?
Meanwhile, Mr. Hale asked Amelia and Jasper out for dinner.
He wanted to talk to them about Institute 511’s projects and check in on the progress of Nova Nine’s various projects.
Mr. Hale picked a quiet and elegant venue for a meal.
It was a cafe that also served main courses.
The fragrance of tea leaves filled the cafe, soothing one’s nerves.
