Chapter 274
“I heard that the Valoria national finals are about to begin? Mr. Hale asked. “How’s competition preparation going? I can help you review your proposal.”
Amelia didn’t expect him to keep tabs on the competition.
“I’m almost there. Let’s agree on a date and time, and I’ll call Aurora Vision here for a meeting with you. We’ll certainly benefit from your advice and guidance,” she said.
If they could advance to the global finals and clinch the championship, they might stand a chance to join the global aviation agency. Even if they failed to do so eventually, Amelia might be able to carve a name for herself on the global stage.
Mr. Hale had high expectations for her. The younger generation was the hope for the future of this country.
Such international competitions afforded them opportunities to touch base with overseas candidates and allowed them to understand the advantages and disadvantages of foreign teams.
In the scientific research field, working in isolation from reality was not the way to go.
“Feel free to tell me if you encounter any difficulties,” Mr. Hale said. “The task is arduous. In the scientific research field, the road ahead is long. We don’t even earn much in this industry.”
Even the most top-notch chief designer had an annual salary of only a million.
Although there was always national funding for scientific research, the amount was always tight.
A lot of energy, time, and money were invested in this line.
When it was impossible to see the future or any hope at all, it was exceptionally tormenting to the body and mind. Scientific research projects were often years in the making.
It was indeed difficult for hot-blooded youngsters to bear with it.
Mr. Hale’s eyes deepened as he went on, “If you specialize in certain areas together with Jasper and his company, you may earn quite a bit from patents.”
Amelia was slightly taken aback by his suggestion.
A thought suddenly came to mind.
Mr. Hale had a lot more white hair and looked more haggard than before. Yet, he remained fighting on the frontline.
He wouldn’t bring up her salary or compensation for no reason.
When Amelia decided to withdraw from her studies in favor of getting married back then, it was to a wealthy and powerful family: the Zephyrs.
It was the greatest mistake of her life.
Everyone accused her of marrying into the Zephyrs for money. Since working in this industry didn’t earn one much, it was understandable for a woman to find a shortcuto riches.
Perhaps these rumors somehow drifted into Mr. Hale’s ears
Amelia gave up on her bright future and chose to pursue marriage, which others interpreted as her being a gold digger blinded by money.
“I’m sorry, sir,” Amelia said. She lowered her head, feeling slightly affronted. “But I didn’t marry for the sake of

money. I was just…”
However, she found it hard to explain herself.
When she was young, she thought she had it in herself to win a man’s heart and take on the most important position in his life.
Now, it all sounded like a joke to her.
She looked down on her past self.
Mr. Hale sensed Amelia’s hesitation and knew where she was coming from. He lifted a hand and patted her gently on the shoulder.
“I know. I’m getting old and inevitably become naggy,” he said with a smile. “It’s tough working in this industry. I have to give you a shot in the arm, lest you rest on your laurels.”
Amelia heaved a sigh of relief.
“Sir, don’t you worry. It won’t happen a second time.”
Meanwhile, Megatech suffered a loss of about a hundred million because of Mr. Lewis’ company.
Nicole headed to ACE Technologies’ office to look for her mother, Tania.
Tania heard Nicole out and scoffed. “That bitch, playing nasty tricks to make you fall into her trap. ACE Technologies can afford a hundred million dollars.”
Then, she asked Nicole, “What did Chris say about this?”
