Reborn Without You (Amelia and Christopher) novel Chapter 273

Chapter 273

Amelia had to put all her time and energy into the projectsnder Institute 511, as well as her thesis.

The second round of the ISSDC competition was right around the corner, too.

She had to start getting ready for it.

After the regional qualifiers at the last round, the current round was the Valoria national finals. If she passed this round, she would have a chance to vie for a spot at the global semifinals and the global finals.

In preparing for the Valoria national finals, she had been in close contact with Aurora Vision.

The next day, Amelia arrived at Institute 511 and conducted project research with the researchers.

She received a call from Dorothy at about noon.

“Mia, the doctor told me that you might have low blood sugar and anemia. I’ve asked Chris to prepare some health supplements for you. I’ll also have the servants at Whitmore Manor send you tonic. Do remember to drink it at night when you get home.”

Amelia could feel her head pounding.

Dorothy used to always deliver food to her. The old woman doted on her and would always have the servants deliver her food whenever she didn’t have time to visit her at Whitmore Manor.

Now that they were divorced, it was clearly not a convenient option.

However, she didn’t turn Dorothy down. “Sure.”

If she did, Dorothy would surely start nagging at her again.

She would just ask Christopher to deal with it.

“Don’t overwork and tire yourself out. I’m at the hospital visiting Chris. Do you have anything to say to your husband?” Dorothy said tenderly. 1

Dorothy would never tire of affording them opportunities to get closer.

Amelia used to play along. In fact, she appreciated Dorothy’s efforts in trying to draw them closer.

However, this time she said, “Grandma, I’m busy with work.”

“I see…”

Dorothy didn’t insist on it. After nagging at Amelia for a while and reminding Amelia to take care of herself, she hung up.

At the hospital, she turned back to look at Christopher lying on the bed.

He was staring at his laptop, calmly doing his work.

“I heard you went back to Whitmore Manor yesterday night What were you doing back there instead of staying at the hospital like an obedient patient?” Dorothy said.

“I wanted to grab some fresh clothes and see my child.”

“Didn’t Mia visit you here? Why can’t she bring you some clothes?”

“There’s no need to trouble her to make the extra trip. It’s exhausting,” Christopher replied, without so much as looking up at her.

Dorothy patted Christopher gently on his thigh. “I can tell that things have been rocky between you two recently. Did you upset her or something? Don’t you know you need to apologize if you angered her?”

“I did not.”

Dorothy scoffed.

“Don’t think that I can’t tell just because I have poor eyesight. Mia used to freak out with every minor illness you contract. Now, she’s not even willing to call you and talk to you, not to mention take care of you, when you just got in a major car accident that landed you in the hospital. Be careful, lest she runs away.”

Christopher chuckled helplessly. “We’re fine. Why would she run?”

Dorothy glared at him and nagged at him some more.

“Remember to remind Mia to drink the tonic and not ruin her health for the sake of work. Why is she working so hard recently, anyway?”

Christopher paused for a moment before saying, “For the career she has a passion for.”

After hanging up, Amelia headed to the canteen for lunch. She didn’t care much about the conversation that had just transpired.

Mr. Hale looked at her and said, “You’ve been in a great state recently. How has your thesis preparation been going?”

“I’m far from done,” Amelia said with a sigh. “I’ve been busier with work recently.”

That was why she kept delaying her personal affairs.

She had to spend some time with Evelyn whenever she got home at night before preparing her thesis.

Often, she succumbed to her fatigue and found herself waking up in the middle of the night in front of her laptop.
