Chapter 47
Amelia smiled and nodded, then followed Jasper toward the lecture hall.
Of course, fate had a sense of irony,
Nicole and Christopher were there, and so was Luke.
Luke was the COO of Cloudway Technologies, and he had tagged along to stay informed about the industry.
Christopher sat in the front row, dressed in his usual black suit, exuding that poised, elegant composure he always carried. It looked like he was going to speak today.
Jasper leaned in. “Forgot to tell you, Mr. Zephyr’s company is one of the top in the field, and he’ll be sharing on stage too. If you’d rather not sit here, I can move you somewhere else.”
“No need.”
Amelia had nothing to hide. If they were in the same field, their paths would eventually cross. She wasn’t going to duck every time Christopher was around. Why should she?
With that, she walked straight to her seat and sat down.
Luke clicked his tongue, eyeing Amelia with a mocking look. “Well, look who showed up. You actually understand this stuff? And cheating while married, flaunting it like everyone should know you’re a temptress, seducing others while clinging to Chris? Pathetic.”
Amelia sat with her back perfectly straight, eyes fixed on the podium ahead.
She didn’t care about Luke’s jabber. From the moment she married Christopher, Luke had held nothing but disdain for her. Every time they met, it was the same-mockery, sarcasm, and thinly veiled insults.
“Playing the pure, untouchable saint, are we?” Luke sneered when she ignored him. “Chris, I should switch seats. Just sitting near her feels dirty.”
Nicole frowned. “Watch your mouth. Why do you always have it out for Mia?”
Luke shrugged. “Am I wrong? Isn’t she exactly that kind of person? Doing whatever she wants and expecting no one to say a word?”
Jasper shot him a sharp look. “I didn’t realize you had such poor judgment, Mr. Carter. You’re ready to slander someone without knowing the facts.”
“Me?!” Luke laughed coldly. “Poor judgment? What kind of spell has Amelia put on you? Do you even know
she’s married?”
“What’s the point of arguing in public?” Amella sald coldly, her eyes fixed on Luke. “Next time you yap like this, I’ll rip off your mouth,”
Luke scoffed and leaned closer. “I’d like to see you try. I’m right here. Move a finger and see what happens.”
“I’ve never met someone so unreasonable,” Amella muttered.
She picked up the cup of water beside her, stood, and splashed it on his face. Then she threw a blanket at him.”

There, I’ve washed your mouth for you. The smell’s unbearable.”
Luke wiped the water off his face in disbelief. “Amelia!”
Nicole spoke up immediately. “Mia, that’s going too far. You can’t just do something like that.”
“I didn’t do it to you,” Amelia shot back. “You want some of it, is that it?”
“That’s enough.” Christopher, who had been silent until now, finally spoke, his gaze cold and detached as it landed on Amelia. “Is this really necessary?”
When it came to bullying Luke, anything seemed allowed. But as soon as it involved Nicole, Christopher was quick to step in and defend her.
Amelia’s eyes glinted with mockery. “Is there any point in dragging some things out?”
His brow furrowed slightly, but before he could say anything, Amelia stood and walked away.
Jasper followed right behind her.
Luke jabbed a finger at her retreating back. “Can you really just let that go? They’re flaunting their affection in front of you! They’re completely out of control!”
Amelia suddenly halted, then she turned back coldly and strode toward Luke.
