Chapter 348
After leaving the attic, Sierra drove out of the garage to find Holly. Campanile Estate was nothing but a cage to her.
Upstairs, John stood by the tall window, watching her car shrink into the distance. He called out calmly, “Robin.”
Robin appeared at once. “Sir.”
“When she meets up with Holly, have someone make an act,” John said. He didn’t even need to think to know Sierra was going to Holly. “She needs to understand that going back on our agreement means bad things will happen.”
Robin hesitated. “Aren’t you afraid Ms. Bell will get angry?”
“Isn’t she already angry now?” John said.
He had plenty of patience to calm her down and be good to her, but only on the condition that she softened toward him instead of keeping her distance. Since she had chosen to come back, she ought to follow it through.
Robin fell silent. “How far should they take it?”
“Just a scare,” John said. “Don’t let her get hurt for real.”
Robin nodded. “Understood.”
Sierra had no idea what John was plotting. She only needed some way to let out everything that was bottled up inside right now.
Holly had just finished work when she got Sierra’s invitation to meet at a bar. Her surprise was apparent when she saw her. “You actually asked me to come to a place like this? What’s going on here?”
“What do you want to drink?” Sierra asked.
“Anything’s fine.” Holly sat down across from her.
Sierra ordered what Holly usually drank. When Holly realized Sierra had only ordered for her, she was taken aback. “What about you?”
“Lemon juice. No sugar,” Sierra said.
“They have that here?” Holly asked.
“If you pay enough, they do,” Sierra replied.
Holly stared at her, blinking hard.
Soon, the bartender came over with several glasses of freshly squeezed lemon juice, all of them unsweetened. He set them down neatly in front of Sierra. “Please enjoy.”
“You might as well drink alcohol,” Holly said. Just smelling the pure sourness of the lemon made her mouth water. “This really is not meant for people.”
“I get drunk too easily. I don’t want John hauling me home over his shoulder,” Sierra said calmly. “I just need a way to vent. Alcohol, lemon juice, they work the same.”
“What did that scumbag do to you this time?” Holly asked.
Sierra raised one of the glasses and clinked it toward her. “I’m not saying. Let’s just drink.”
Holly eyed the greenish–yellow lemon juice like it was something dangerous, but she still picked up her own glass and clinked it against Sierra’s.

A clear glass clink sounded.
Sierra drank a mouthful.
So sour!
Her whole face scrunched up.
For a moment, she forgot her anger and resentment. All that filled her head was how she felt right now.
“You don’t have to torture your teeth and your stomach like this,” Holly said, her own teeth tingling just from watching, Once again, she was sure her best friend was ruthless with herself. “At this rate, drinking alcohol would probably be healthier.”
It took several lemons to fill a single glass of pure juice. Sierra had probably just swallowed the juice of an entire lemon in one
“Holly,” Sierra said, wanting to talk.
“Say it,” Holly answered crisply.
Sierra’s pale lips pressed.
Clang!
Crash!
