Chapter 466
“No,” Holly said at once.
“I’m going with whatever she said,” Sierra added.
Brad and Jessica exchanged a look before finally saying, “Our situations are pretty similar, so I hope we can work together.” Sierra looked confused, and so did Holly.
“People have been saying Cyrus and Nathan gave you very expensive birthday gifts, but nobody knows whether they really meant it or were just putting on a show,” Brad said slowly.
Sierra asked, “What are you trying to say?”
“The King family and the Lynch family are both old–money powerhouses. A child suddenly showing up out of nowhere damage the family’s image,” Brad said, as if he had already seen through everything. “To maintain their image, they might easily reframe things like ‘illegitimate daughter‘ or ‘the child of the daughter they disowned‘ as a precious, long–lost treasure that w. lost years ago.”
Sierra said nothing. She could already tell where he was going.
“The sons and daughters of the four major families already have their own social circles, and they’ve stayed close for years,” Jessica added. “People like us should stick together even more.”
“Not interested,” Sierra said without hesitation.
Brad hadn’t expected her to stay this calm. “Do you really think the King family and the Lynch family will accept you?” After listening long enough, Sierra had figured it out. “There’s one thing you got wrong. In some way, we’re not the same.” Jessica frowned. “How are we not the same?”
“The two of you are desperate for the Chapman family’s approval. I’m not,” Sierra said.
She didn’t care about both the King family or the Lynch family. The King family was just a means to an end, helping her mom to get what belonged to her back. Nothing more.
“Stop the act!” Brad said without hesitation. “I don’t believe that someone from an insignificant family like you won’t want to join a family like the King family or the Lynch family.”
“We came to you with sincerity, and you’re acting like you’re above all this,” Jessica said bluntly. “What’s the point of it?”
“If you don’t like it, then stop talking.” Even though Sierra had changed a little, she was still just as blunt with people she disliked.
“You probably still don’t understand the situation you’re in.” Brad glanced toward the three distinguished men chatting together in the distance. “See the man sitting in the middle over there?”
Sierra followed his gaze.
She could see Maxwell’s face. The CEO of King Group, Charlie’s eldest son. Cold, distant, and hard to approach. Her mother had told her all of that when she introduced the King family to her.
As if someone had told him she was looking, Maxwell turned his gaze her way. Even from that far away, Sierra could still feel the coldness and indifference from him.
“He’s the one really running King Group. Even the head of the King family has to defer to him sometimes,” Brad continued. “Do you really think he would want you around?”
“Are you done?” Sierra had no intention of wasting any more time on this. She hadn’t forgotten what Joey had said when they

first came in. Maxwell wanted to talk to her about the shares.
“You’re impossible,” Brad said. He did not expect her to react like this at all.

“Forget it. Don’t waste time on her anymore,” Jessica had had enough. “Once she gets burned, she’ll realize we were just trying to help her.”
