Chapter 473
John kept looking in the direction Sierra had gone.
Robin watched his face grow paler and finally said, “You still have to go back to Jade City tomorrow. You should return to the hospital and get that wound fixed first.”
John gave a faint nod.
Robin left with John. With so many people around, he did not hold John. He was worried someone would use this against him.
Sierra watched them the whole time. Even though John showed no obvious sign that anything was wrong, she knew his wound was most likely bleeding again.
But this was something that had to be said sooner or later.
Better to say it all at once.
“Sierra?” Holly walked over and called her name several times.
Sierra only came back to herself after John left the ballroom.
Holly could tell something was wrong. She tried to look at what Sierra was looking at, but saw nothing. “What did Maxwell say to you? Why do you look so pale?”
“That obvious?” Sierra asked.
“That obvious.” Holly nodded.
Sierra lowered her eyes and hid the emotion in them.
In the end, the knife she had driven into John had hurt her too. The wound was not deep, but it still hurt.
“What exactly did he say to you?” Holly had never seen Sierra act like this. Not even back when she and John had fought over divorce had she looked this bad. “Tell me. I’ll figure out a way to deal with him.”
“It wasn’t him.”
Nothing Maxwell said could affect Sierra. No matter who told her to give up, she would not care.
“Then who was it?” Holly asked.
Sierra felt a heaviness in her chest. She was nowhere near as relieved as she had thought she would be.
Before she could answer, Holly seemed to realize something. Her eyes widened a little as she tested the water. “John?”
“Yeah…” Sierra nodded.
“You two put everything on the table?” Holly asked.
Sierra nodded again. “Yeah. I asked for a divorce, and he agreed.”
“When?” Holly had the same worry Sierra did about the waiting period.
Sierra thought of his pale lips. “Tomorrow.”
Holly wanted to say John was still in the hospital. But the longer this dragged on, the easier it would be for something to change, so she held it back. It was better to settle this sooner or later.
The real disaster would be for John, who had always cared so much about promises, to suddenly stop caring about keeping his
words.

“Holly, I want to go home.”
Sierra was tired of the festive crowd around her. Right now, all she wanted was a hot shower and a good night’s sleep.
Holly held Sierra’s arm. “I’ll go with you. Come on.”
Sierra went with her to say goodbye to Hera, then left.
Meanwhile, outside…
After getting into the car, John leaned back in his seat and closed his eyes.
Next to him, Kenneth kept glancing at him with a grim expression. In the end, his eyes fell on John’s white shirt. “Since you love tormenting yourself so much, why don’t you just do it properly and kill yourself while you’re at it?”
John kept his eyes closed and ignored him. Even now, he still hadn’t fully processed the fact that Sierra had been the one who saved him.
