After breakfast, John sent Sierra a voice message to let her know Tommy was going back to Harbor City. “I’ll have someone take him home. No need to come to the airport.”

“Mr. Tommy, we’re home,” Lance said, following John’s instructions exactly.

Tommy shifted his little backpack. Just as he put his foot outside the car, he suddenly turned back to look at John. “Dad?”

John’s expression did not change. “Yeah?”

“Do you love Mom?” Tommy asked.

“I do.” John asked.

Tommy then asked, “For how long?”

“For all eternity,” John said.

“I understand.” Tommy got out of the car, his face full of seriousness beyond his age. He waved into the car. “Bye!”

Lance watched Tommy run into the yard, then spoke hesitantly. “Sir, aren’t you going in to say hello to Ms. Bell?”
