Three months earlier, his parents had decided he was old enough to get married, so they casually brought up introducing Maya as his future fiancee.
He had not refused. He had just let them do whatever they wanted.
It was not the first time.
They were always like that, doing whatever that came to mind. One day, they thought one woman was suitable. The next, they thought someone else was.
“Solomon?” Maya called out from the other side of the line carefully.
“Give yourself a couple of days to get over the jet lag,” Solomon said, casually finding an excuse. “Get some rest.”
Maya agreed right away. “Sure!”
When Tammy saw Solomon leave the room with his phone, she let out a quiet sigh of relief.
However, her mind was still stuck on their relationship. If she wanted to leave him, the first thing she had to do was get her younger sister out from under his underlings’ monitoring.
Even so, her sister had only just started college. College wasn’t like high school, where you could transfer whenever you wanted She had to stay there and finish all four years.
That meant Tammy would have to stay tied to him for at least four more years.
While she was thinking about that, Sierra sent her a message. [Are you alright?]
Sierra had timed it on purpose. At this hour, anything that needed to be discussed should already be over. If Tammy needed help, Sierra wanted to be ready.
A second later, Tammy replied as her phone chimed. [I’m fine. Don’t worry.]
Sierra wanted to say more, but after typing out a message, she hesitated.
In the end, she and Tammy were not close the way she and Holly were. If Tammy had already replied that way and Sterra kept pressing, it felt rude. After thinking it over, she only sent one line back.
[That’s good.]
After that day, Sierra never saw Tammy again, and Tammy never messaged her either. It was as if that late-night conversation had only been a dream.
Another half-a-month went by.
After several trips, Sierra finally secured the project in the neighboring city.
The one in Jade City, however, fell through. Just as Marcus had predicted, those people had not dared turn her down to directly. out of respect for John. They all wanted to stay on good terms in case they ran into bim agam later
After signing the contract for the neighboring city, Sierra got ready to head back to Harbor City
“You’re giving up on the project in Jade City?” Marcus asked.
“I am.
“After the last two dinners, Sierra could already see the situation clearly
In Jade City, the only person who had the guts to go against Juhn was Solomon. She still did not know here she had elfeindead milk badly enough to make him target her like this, but now that she had serized a citywide project next door, the use in laár (ty Bo longer mattered much

Marcus kept a straight face. “That is kind of embarrassing.”
Sierra blinked.

Marcus went on, with no concern at all for Sierra’s dignity. “This is your home turf. Letting someone else take the project is embarrassing.”
“Then you go negotiate it.” Sierra didn’t get annoyed since she knew exactly what he was like. “If you can get me that project, I’ll give you ten percent of the profit.”
“I refuse,” Marcus said.
Sierra raised a brow. “Why?”
Marcus knew his limits. “What are the chances of me, your bodyguard-assistant-driver, could get the project when John’s ex- wife can’t?”
Sierra looked at him, questions in her mind.
What kind of logic was that?
“The tickets are already booked.” Marcus was as efficient as ever. “If we leave now, we can still make it back in time for dinner.
The moment Sierra and Marcus left, Lance drove John out right behind them. On the way to the airport, Robin reported the situation.
“Those people at the hospital gave you vague answers and acted like they agreed, but they’re still following Solomon’s instructions behind your back. Do you want me to bring them in for a talk?”
“No.” John saw the situation clearly and knew exactly where the problem was.
Those people who were caught in the middle could not decide anything. Solomon was the one who mattered.
Solomon had promised earlier that he would not interfere in Sierra’s affairs, yet now he was openly going back on his word. Apparently, he had forgotten the warning John gave him back then.
