Sierra was right on the money about what was happening.
That was what Loren and Charlie were thinking, too. In their eyes, if Sierra knew when to stop and gave up on the shares, they would also stop targeting her and even give her some money every year.
However, if she refused to back down, they would have no choice but to use some other methods.
Sure enough, as evening approached, Loren called to ask how things had gone.
The result...
"You couldn't even handle something this minor," Loren said. The moment he heard the full report, his mood soured. "What good are you?"
"I planned everything carefully. How was I supposed to know there would be a man at Sierra's side who'd jump out and pretend to be one of ours?" The person on the other end also felt that he couldn't be blamed for this. "That was what ruined the plan."
A thoughtful look crossed Loren's face. He didn't even have anyone around him who could react that fast, yet Sierra did. Had his aunt arranged that? Or Nathan? Or John?
When Loren did not respond, the person on the other side of the call grew nervous and spoke first. "I'll come up with a new plan right away. This time, I'll make sure they're properly warned. I won't let this happen again."
"No." Loren already had an idea.
The other person grew anxious. "No need to worry. This time, I'll definitely get it done."
Loren hung up on him.
One failed attempt had already put the other side on alert. If he tried again now, he would only hand them something they could use against him.
Sierra was not stupid. After the first time, she would be on her guard already.
With that in mind, he called his father.
The moment the call connected, he got straight to the point.
"Have you thought about what I told you before? Our plan today failed. Our little cousin is far more prepared than we expected."
"I know. I just want you to go all in without any worries." Loren did not want Sierra to get those shares at all. "Those shares can end up in anyone's hands in the King family, but they absolutely cannot end up with Sierra."
After listening to that, Charlie agreed.
Loren officially set the plan against Sierra in motion.
To make sure he could take her out in one blow, he stretched the plan out over a long period of time. He stopped using minor tricks from earlier. Once he moved, he wanted to make sure that Sierra would have no way out.
Sierra knew nothing about any of this. Since the last incident, she had been preparing carefully every single day.
A full week had passed and nothing had happened around her.
Before she knew it, there was only one week left until Tommy's birthday.
Sierra and Anna reserved the hotel ahead of time and had it decorated to their specifications. Even though it was only a five-year-old's birthday, every one of Tommy's birthdays was especially important to Sierra.
