One hour later, they finished dinner.
Solomon went back to his study to deal with work. Meanwhile, Tammy had planned to put on a show and go keep him company, but the moment she picked up her glass of water, her agent called.
She assumed her agent was calling to send her to dinner with Mr. Sunderland so she could apologize for what had happened last time.
Just as she was thinking about how to refuse, her agent's voice came through the phone, much calmer than usual. "Tammy, tell me the truth. Who are you with right now?"
Tammy paused.
She had not expected that question.
Because Solomon did not like other people knowing about their relationship, he had never allowed her to admit in public that she was involved with him. Not even her agent knew.
"Don't deny it," her agent said, not giving her a chance to lie. "I've been in this business longer than you've been alive. I can more or less guess what kind of situation you're in."
Tammy tightened her grip on her phone.
Then, her agent had completely dropped her usual attitude. "If you don't tell me now, how am I supposed to handle the fallout for you once you get famous and get found out later on?"
"Famous?" Tammy had not expected to hear that word from her agent.
She was a minor actress, one of the many artists under her agent. It was only because of her striking looks and her ability to actually act that her agent had once thought highly of her. When she first signed her up, her agent had high hopes for her.
But after all the projects Tammy was involved in getting shelved one after another, and still refused to sleep her way to the top, her agent had stopped expecting much from her.
"All the projects that were being held back are being released now," her agent said bluntly. "I checked the schedule. At the latest, your shows will start airing one after another next Wednesday."
Tammy froze and instinctively looked toward the study, but the thought only lasted a second before she dismissed it.
It couldn't be Solomon.
He did not like her getting too much attention or drawing too many eyes. He did not want to see her on screen with people saying they loved her or liked her.
She should have been happy that all her shows were finally getting released. But the moment she thought of Solomon's methods, she could not be sure. With his personality, it was entirely possible that he would expose the fact that she had been kept by a man and force her out of the industry once she gained a little fame.
He had never cared about the damage he did to her.
He would use any method he could to get what he wanted.
And she could not say that the man who was keeping her was him. If an actress with no fame and no influence tried to tie herself to a business tycoon, people online would only mock her even more viciously.
With that in mind, she carried a glass of water to the study to find Solomon.
She planned to take a gamble.
No one would release all her projects for no reason. Either it was someone connected to her, or someone was deliberately trying to cause trouble for Solomon.
Either way, one thing was certain. Whoever had pushed those projects through behind Solomon's back was not someone ordinary.
