“You should have,” I said softly as they looked back down again, “but I know that Candice threatened you. I know that she liked to lord it over other omegas who were weaker than her. If I let you go,” I asked quietly, “how can I be sure you won’t harm me, or any other innocent girl again?”

“We won’t. We’ll do anything to prove it. Whatever you need.”

The other girl nodded in agreement.

“We’ll do any task, no matter how degrading. We’ll form friendships with the other omegas. We’ll report to the Alpha and Luna everyday if required. You can keep an eye on us. You can ask the other omegas how we are acting.

They seemed genuinely remorseful. Afraid as well.

The guards had already reported they had stopped speaking to Candice. I had also heard from numerous witnesses that these girls used to be sweet and kind until Candice got her hooks into them.

I was willing to give them a chance.

Something told me I wouldn’t regret it.

I gestured at the guards to open the cell doors.

“I haven’t forgiven what you did,” I told the stunned girls as they cautiously stepped foot outside the door, “but I also know that sometimes a second chance can be all that somebody needs to change.”

“Thank you,” they whispered, “we won’t let you down.”

“Leave, and you better believe I’ll be checking on you, as will the Alpha and Luna,” I told them with an arched brow.

They rushed past me without so much as a glance at Candice, who had gone ashen.

“Let me out already,” Candice huffed with impatience.

“You’re not going anywhere,” I told her softly, and she went slack-jawed.

“I told you, I don’t trust you not to attack again, and I won’t spend the rest of my life wondering if you will. I’m sorry, Candice, but you brought this on yourself. At least I’m merciful enough to make sure it won’t hurt and that you’ll go peacefully.”
