Chapter 21

Several months had passed since I last spoke to Stefano. I never expected for us to speak again under such circumstances.

Perhaps the love I showered him with in the past had made him overconfident to the point that he assumed he could order me around even in this situation.

“I know you’re angry, Gina. I admit that I shouldn’t have toyed with you in the past. But I’ve already called off my engagement with Antonia, so you should stop causing a fuss, too. If you come back to me, the title of Mrs. Farro still belongs

to you.

“I promise that I’ll actually marry you this time. I’ll also give you a grand wedding ceremony.”

I couldn’t believe that I had fallen for such a stupid man in the past as I listened to his words.

“I won’t forgive you,” I said. “And I definitely won’t marry you. Stefano, from the moment you decided to lie to me, relationship turned into ephemeral bubbles. In fact, it’s nothing more than a preposterous joke.

“Also, tell Antonia that she should be on her knees if she wants to give me a proper apology. I’ll accept her apology in person

once I arrive at the venue.”

I hung up after saying my piece.

Perhaps the displeasure on my face was too obvious, prompting Marco to wrap an arm around my shoulders and comfort me.

“Are you angry?” he asked softly. “Do you want to go home and rest? I can handle this.”

“No.”

When I lifted my head from his embrace, my eyes were burning with the desire for revenge. “I want to see them grovel for my forgiveness with my own two eyes.”

Marco didn’t say anything else and simply held me tighter. His warmth radiated through his clothes and spread to me, setting me at ease.

When we made it to the venue, the engagement ceremony was already halfway done.

A look of terror flashed across Antonia’s face when she spotted me, just as a fat and old man was about to slip an engagement ring onto her finger. She didn’t care that the ceremony was going on and abandoned her fiance as she rushed toward me.

“Gina, you came here today with Uncle Marco to give me your blessings, right?”

Her eyes were shining with panic, but she was still smiling. She took my hand as she addressed the guests, saying, “This is my sister, and this is my uncle, the successor of Scapuzzi Group, Marco Scapuzzi. They also came to give me their blessings today.”

Antonia clutched my hand like her life depended on it.

Although I could feel her shaking, I retracted my hand as she watched on in horror.

“Excuse me. Even though Ms. Antonia Leone and I share the same padre, her mother seduced my father while he was still a married man. She caused my family to fall apart, so I don’t acknowledge her, the daughter of my father’s mistress, as my

sister.”

Surprised gasps erupted all over the venue as the guests began to discuss among themselves.

“What? I thought Regina was the illegitimate daughter.”

“That’s right. Don Leone’s wife is Antonia’s biological mother. They’ve always told the public that Regina is his illegitimate daughter. Where did his first wife come from?”

Everyone’s gazes fell on Antonia, causing her to cover her face in a mixture of anger and embarrassment.

Dad shot to his feet and brought Antonia’s mother with him as they rushed to our sides. He looked heartbroken as he drew Antonia into his arms.

“Regina, no matter how jealous you are of your sister, you shouldn’t cause a scene during an important occasion like this,” he roared at me.

As for Antonia’s mother, she used a handkerchief to dab at her eyes as she sobbed softly.
