Rejected Me Once Never Fool Me Twice (Watt) novel Chapter 48

Chapter 48

Louis’s first day of school was a whirlwind of emotions for all of us. Winter had just turned six months old, and I was still adjusting to balancing life as a mother of two while ensuring that everything in the pack ran smoothly. But today wasn’t about me-it was about my son taking his first step into the world beyond our home.

The morning started with chaos, as expected. Louis was unusually quiet while I helped him into his tiny school uniform, a navy-blue polo shirt and beige trousers. His small fingers fidgeted with the hem of his shirt as he sat on the edge of his bed.

“You okay, sweetheart?” I asked, kneeling in front of him.

He nodded, but I could see the hesitation in his bright blue eyes.

“I don’t know if I want to go, Mommy,” he mumbled, his lower lip jutting out in a slight pout.

I exchanged a glance with Zander, who stood at the doorway with Winter cradled in one arm. He gave me a reassuring smile before stepping into the room.

“Louis, my boy,” Zander said, crouching beside us. “School is going to be amazing. You’ll make friends, play games, and learn so many cool things. And guess what? When you come back home, you can tell us all about your adventures.”

Louis still seemed unconvinced, so I cupped his small face in my hands. “Sweetheart, I know it’s a little scary because it’s something new. But remember how you were scared to swim the first time? And then you loved it?”

He nodded slowly.

“School is just like that. New at first, but you’ll grow to love it. And I promise, we’ll be right here when you come home.”

Finally, a small smile formed on his lips. “Okay, Mommy.”

With that, I kissed his forehead and helped him into his tiny sneakers. Winter gurgled happily in Zander’s her little hands reaching for her big brother as if offering support in her own way.

Once everyone was ready, we headed to the car. The drive to the school wasn’t long, but it felt like an eternit Louis held my hand the entire time, and I didn’t mind one bit.

When we arrived, the school was buzzing with children and parents saying their goodbyes. The sight of so many unfamiliar faces made Louis squeeze my hand tighter.

“Louis, look!” Zander pointed toward the playground. “There’s the jungle gym you love.”

Louis’s eyes lit up for a moment, but his grip on my hand didn’t loosen.

A cheerful teacher approached us, her warm smile instantly calming my nerves. “You must be Louis! We’ve been so excited to meet you.”

Louis shyly nodded, glancing up at me.

“You’re going to have so much fun,” the teacher continued. “And guess what? We have painting today! Do you like painting?”

Louis’s hesitation lessened as he nodded more eagerly.

I bent down one last time, wrapping my arms around him. “I love you so much, baby. You’re going to have an amazing day.”

“Love you too, Mommy,” he whispered.

Zander ruffled his hair and placed a kiss on his head. “Be brave, little warrior. We’ll see you soon.”

With one last glance, Louis took a deep breath and followed his teacher inside. My heart clenched as I watched my little boy walk away, but I knew this was just the beginning of many milestones to come.

Zander wrapped his free arm around my waist, pulling me close. “He’ll be fine. He’s strong, just like his mother.

I exhaled, resting my head on his shoulder. “I know. It’s just… he’s growing up so fast.”
