Rejected Me Once Never Fool Me Twice (Watt) novel Chapter 45

Chapter 45

The warm morning sun filtered through the sheer curtains, casting a golden glow over our bedroom. I stretched lazily, my body still exhausted from the coronation ceremony the night before. My eyes fluttered open to see Zander lying beside me, his strong arms wrapped protectively around my waist. His steady breathing and peaceful expression made my heart swell. This was my husband. My mate. The father of my child.

A sudden burst of energy jolted me from my thoughts. “Mama!” Louis’s excited voice echoed through the room as he jumped onto our bed, his tiny body landing between us. His golden-brown curls were a mess from sleep, and his bright blue eyes shone with excitement.

Zander groaned beside me, reaching out to pull Louis into a playful embrace. “Morning, little warrior,” he mumbled, ruffling our son’s hair.

Louis giggled and wriggled free. “It’s our day out! You promised!” He looked between us, his little arms crossed, clearly determined to get us up.

I chuckled, reaching out to cup his chubby cheeks. “Of course, baby. Let’s get ready.”

Zander sat up, stretching his muscular arms before flashing me a lazy smile. “We better get going before our little Alpha-in-training starts a rebellion.”

After a quick breakfast, we dressed for the day. I slipped into a flowing summer dress, and Zander opted for casual jeans and a fitted t-shirt that made it impossible to ignore his sculpted physique. Louis, ever the energetic pup, wore his favorite blue overalls, his tiny sneakers tapping excitedly against the floor as we made our way outside.

Our first stop was the park, where Louis ran ahead, chasing butterflies and giggling wildly. Zander and I strolled hand-in-hand behind him, enjoying the fresh air and the sight of our son being so carefree.

“It still amazes me how much he looks like you,” I murmured, glancing up at Zander.

He smirked. “Well, I did contribute to his creation.” He winked, earning a playful shove from me. “But he b your stubbornness.”

“That’s a good thing,” I teased.

After an hour of running around, Louis was eager for ice cream. We found a small shop nearby, and his face lit when he saw the variety of flavors.

“Chocolate and vanilla swirl!” he exclaimed, bouncing on his toes.

Zander lifted him up so he could see over the counter. “Coming right up, champ.”

We sat on a nearby bench as Louis happily devoured his treat, the sticky sweetness covering his cheeks. I reached over, wiping his face with a napkin while he squirmed.

“Mama, let me be messy,” he protested.

Zander chuckled. “Your mama doesn’t like messes, Louis. It’s a battle you won’t win.”

Our next stop was the lake, where Louis insisted on skipping stones. Zander crouched beside him, demonstrating the proper technique.

“Like this,” he said, flicking his wrist and sending a stone skimming across the water.

Louis’s attempt sent his rock plopping straight down with a splash, but he beamed proudly anyway. “I did it!”

I laughed, kneeling beside them. “You did amazing, sweetheart.”

Zander wrapped an arm around me, pulling me close as we watched our son continue his attempts. “Days like this are perfect,” he murmured against my temple.

I nodded, leaning into him. “Yes, they are.”

As the sun began to set, we made our way back home. Louis was exhausted, his little head resting against Zander’s shoulder as he carried him inside.

Zander placed him gently into bed, brushing his curls away from his forehead. “Sleep well, little warrior.”

Louis yawned, his tiny fingers clutching Zander’s shirt. “Love you, Papa.”

My heart melted at the sight. Zander kissed his forehead before tucking him in, and I leaned down, pressing a kiss to his cheek. “Sweet dreams, my love.”
