Ten years had passed since Winter was born, and life had been a whirlwind of love, laughter, and challenges. Our family had grown in ways I never imagined, and with each new addition, my heart expanded to hold more love than I thought possible.
Louis was now thirteen, a proud big brother who carried himself with the confidence of his father. He had Zander’s striking features but my soft heart, always looking out for his younger siblings. Winter, at ten, was a force of nature-intelligent, curious, and possessing powers that we had worked tirelessly to keep hidden. And then there were our youngest, the twins, Asher and Aria, now six years old, whose endless energy kept us on our
toes.
Life as Luna had never been easy, but it was fulfilling. The White Moon Pack thrived under Zander’s leadership, and though we had faced many trials, we always emerged stronger. Still, nothing could have prepared us for the challenge of raising a child like Winter.
From the moment she was six months old, it was clear that she was different. Unlike her siblings, who had all shown signs of their wolf heritage early on, Winter’s abilities were… unique. She could move objects without touching them, her emotions sometimes affecting the world around her. When she was a toddler, I once walked into the nursery to find her floating in midair, giggling as if nothing was out of the ordinary. It terrified me.
We kept her powers a secret from everyone outside our immediate family. Only Zander, Louis, and I knew the full extent of what she could do. We couldn’t risk the pack finding out. Werewolves were not meant to have magic, and if the elders knew, they might see Winter as a threat.
But hiding her abilities became more difficult as she grew older. At ten, she had already mastered some level of control, but accidents still happened. Just last week, she had accidentally turned Asher’s hair blue in a fit of frustration. Thankfully, we managed to pass it off as a harmless prank.
Zander and I spent countless nights whispering to each other in the dark, debating what we should do. Should we tell the pack? Should we seek help from witches? But involving others meant exposing her, and we couldn’t risk it. So, we did the only thing we could-trained her in secret.
Tonight was one of those nights.
After a long day of managing pack affairs and taking care of our children, I found myself in the living curled up beside Zander. His arm rested lazily around my shoulders, his fingers trailing absentminded through my hair as we watched the fire crackle in the hearth.
“Winter almost slipped today,” I murmured, leaning into his warmth.
He stiffened slightly. “What happened?”
“She got angry when Louis teased her. A book flew off the shelf and nearly hit him.”
Zander sighed, rubbing a hand over his face. “We can’t keep this a secret forever.”
I knew he was right, but the thought of revealing the truth sent a shiver down my spine. “I just want her to be safe. She’s still our little girl.”
“She is,” he agreed, pressing a kiss to my temple. “And we will do whatever it takes to protect her.”
A soft giggle interrupted our quiet moment, and we both turned to see Aria peeking around the corner, her

golden curls bouncing as she ran toward us. “Mama! Daddy! Winter made the stars dance!”
Zander and I exchanged a look before getting up and following her outside.
The night air was cool against my skin as we stepped onto the back patio. Winter stood in the middle of the yard, her hands outstretched toward the sky. Above her, tiny lights swirled and flickered-stars that moved as if responding to her will.
“Winter,” I called gently, stepping forward.
She turned to me, her wide silver eyes shimmering with excitement. “Mama, look! I figured out how to move the little stars.
My heart clenched. I could see the pure joy in her expression, the thrill of discovering what she could do. But I could also see the danger in it.
Zander walked over, placing a hand on her shoulder. “It’s beautiful, sweetheart, but you have to be careful. No one else can see.”
Her smile faltered. “I know, Daddy. I was just practicing.”
I knelt in front of her, taking her hands in mine. “I know it’s hard, love, but we have to keep this between us.”
She nodded solemnly. “I just wish I could be normal like Louis and the twins.”
I cupped her face gently. “Winter, you are special. There’s nothing wrong with that. One day, you will understand why we have to be cautious, but for now, just know that we love you no matter what.”
