Seeing how affectionate they were, Irene’s heart was bursting with joy. Even Grace, standing off to the side, was grinning from ear to ear.

Sophia walked up to Irene, bent down, and hugged her tightly, her voice choked with emotion. “Grandma, please get better soon, otherwise I’ll be heartbroken.”

Irene patted her back with gentle warmth and said, “Oh, sweetheart, it’s just one of those old issues that comes and goes.

“You don’t need to worry about me. But I promise I’ll take care of myself. I’m still looking forward to helping you two raise your baby someday.”

The doctor came in and told everyone not to linger. The patient needed to rest quietly.

Sophia’s sadness just wouldn’t let go. Feeling overwhelmed, she wandered out to the hospital corridor and stood alone by the balcony, lost in her thoughts.

Stella had been fuming in the hospital room, watching Easton and Sophia put on their little act.

‘That old lady is totally out of it, and she’s still trying to play matchmaker for them? Seriously, could she be any more annoying?’ Stella thought, her anger nearly making her see red.

‘No need to rush. Once Alex erases the Roth family from Jenston for good, let’s see how Sophia plans to stick with Easton then, Stella sneered to herself.

‘A woman with no family backing? Does she really think she can be the wife of Foster Group’s CEO?’ Stella scoffed inwardly.

‘Without the Crestview Group, she’s absolutely nothing, just a nobody!’ Stella thought with a cold smirk.

Stella scoffed, then strolled over to Easton, switching back to her demure persona in an instant. “Easton, David’s still waiting for me downstairs, so I’ll head out. When I get a chance in a couple of days, I’ll come check in on Irene again.”

Easton shot her a frosty look. “Don’t bother. Just make sure you look after David.”

With that, he walked right past her, heading straight for the balcony where Sophia was standing.

Stella glared at Easton’s retreating figure, her fists clenched so tight her knuckles turned white.

Easton gently draped his coat over Sophia’s shoulders. “Grandma’s going to be okay. The doctor said this might just be a temporary thing.”

Sophia turned her face away, gently brushing away the tears at the corners of her eyes.

“Yes, I know,” she whispered.
