Replacement Bride Left With His Baby (Sophia and Easton) novel Chapter 22

**The Case of the Bleeding Shadows by Emma Blackwood**
**Chapter 22**

Prior to his journey to Japoria, Easton had taken the initiative to have Gordon arrange a meeting with Julian. Their rendezvous was set at Elmwood Bistro, a charming, family-run establishment that had once flourished under the watchful eye of Sophia’s mother. The very essence of the place was steeped in nostalgia, with every brick and tile whispering tales of her unwavering dedication and boundless affection.

Sophia, in her childhood, often accompanied her mother to welcome distinguished guests, and as a result, the walls of the bistro were adorned with a collection of her childhood photographs. For Easton, this was an entirely new experience, and as he stepped inside, he was met with the first glimpse of a younger Sophia, her innocence captured in time.

‘She truly was a picture of adorableness as a child,’ Easton mused internally, his heart warming at the sight. ‘Those big, sparkling eyes of hers… Why does she feel so familiar? It’s right there on the tip of my tongue, but I just can’t seem to grasp it.’

Julian, on the other hand, had been raised in an environment that emphasized the importance of education and decorum. He was the epitome of a gentleman, a figure admired by all in Jenston. With an air of calm sophistication, he entered the bistro, his expressive eyes drawing immediate attention. Even behind the elegant gold-rimmed glasses, he radiated a quiet grace that was impossible to overlook.

As soon as Julian stepped into the lobby, he spotted Easton, who was engrossed in studying the photographs that lined the walls. With a warm smile that exuded just the right level of politeness, Julian approached. “Mr. Foster, I believe this is your first visit here, isn’t it?”

Easton nodded in acknowledgment, and together they made their way to a private room where they could have a more intimate conversation. Julian signaled to the waiter, indicating that they would like some privacy.

“So, I presume you’re here to discuss Crestview Group’s potential acquisition of Rothea Designs?” Julian wasted no time with pleasantries, diving straight into the heart of the matter.

Easton took a moment to assess Julian, his thoughts drifting back to the past. ‘Five years ago, we were connected by family ties, yet we never truly formed a bond. Still, the rumors about him hold a grain of truth. He carries himself with a certain class and politeness. At least he’s not showing any signs of annoyance at my presence.’

“Mr. Roth, I must admit, the thought of acquiring Rothea Designs through Crestview Group did cross my mind back then,” Easton confessed, his tone measured.

“Back then, you say? What exactly are you implying now?” Julian inquired, his brow furrowing slightly in confusion.

“Currently, I’m interested in forming a partnership with Crestview Group,” Easton replied deliberately, allowing the weight of his words to settle in the air between them.

Julian’s eyes widened in surprise. ‘Sophia helped Easton’s father’s museum three years ago? How have I missed this all along?’ he pondered, a flicker of realization dawning upon him.

Easton’s words were purposefully ambiguous. His true intention was for Julian to relay his request to Sophia, who would then pass it along to the director of Rothea Designs.

However, a nagging suspicion began to creep into Julian’s mind: perhaps Easton was already aware that Sophia was the creative force behind Rothea Designs, which explained why he had asked Julian to convey his sentiments.

But then, Julian reconsidered. ‘No, that can’t be right. Sophia assured me she had never disclosed that secret. Even if Easton made a special trip to Japoria, there’s no way he could have uncovered that information so easily.’ A wave of relief washed over him at this thought.

He resolved to have a thorough conversation with Sophia upon returning home. After a moment of contemplation, he nodded affirmatively. “I will certainly ensure your intentions are communicated, Mr. Foster.”
