The front of the car was smashed up. Stella instinctively shielded David, and once the car finally steadied, she grabbed her phone and screamed at Alex, “Alex, are you insane? You knew David and I would be driving down this road, too!”

Alex gave a cold, low laugh. He said, “Stella, consider this payback for what happened with David. Don’t try to pull any tricks on me again.

“And since there’s been a car accident, why not use this chance to see if you can create some misunderstanding between Easton and Sophia?”

With that, he hung up.

Stella didn’t get what he meant at first, but when David started bawling in her arms, it finally clicked.

Stella pulled herself together and immediately called Gordon.

“Hello, Gordon, it’s Stella,” she said.

Gordon always kept things polite with her. “Ms. Weston, good evening. Is there something urgent at this hour?”

Stella pretended to be frantic. “Could you send a car to pick us up near the airport? We just had a car accident, and our car’ s completely wrecked. David might be hurt. We need to get to the hospital.”

Gordon glanced at his watch. He was currently entertaining clients with Mr. Foster at Oceanview Club. “Of course, just hold on a moment. I’ll arrange it right away.”

A sly smile crept onto Stella’s face. “Alright, thanks for your help.”

Over the years, Gordon knew exactly why Easton was so on edge about Stella’s kid. So whenever something happened to David, Gordon would always tip Easton off first thing.

After hanging up, Gordon hurried over to Easton and leaned in to whisper in his ear.

Easton’s brows knitted together. He set his glass down. “Where are they now?”

Gordon told him they were near the airport.

“Call Remony Medical Center and make sure they’ve got a doctor and a room ready for us,” Easton ordered.

“Yes, Mr. Foster,” Warren replied.

After a quick word with the clients, Easton grabbed Gordon and rushed straight to the accident scene.

Emily groggily came to, her head and arm throbbing with pain. The airbag had gone off in the driver’s seat.

She looked back at the three people behind her. They were still unconscious. Panic rising, she shook them and called out for Sophia.

‘I have to get them out of here, fast. If the car starts leaking fuel, it could get dangerous, Emily thought, her heart pounding. She barely managed to shove the door open from the driver’s seat and crawled out.

Right then, Paolo woke up with a start and asked anxiously, “Ms. Carter, are you okay?”

Emily shook her head. “I’m alright, but Ms. Roth and the others still haven’t come to. We need to get out of here, quick. If the car starts leaking gas, we’re screwed.”

Paolo nodded, and Emily grabbed some tools from the trunk, using them to pry open the back door while Paolo helped from the inside.

Working together, they managed to get the back door open in no time.

Just then, the back of the car caught fire and started popping with explosions. Time was running out. They had to make a split-second decision. Paolo and Emily didn’t hesitate. They went straight for Sophia.

Luckily, they managed to pull Sophia out just before the whole car blew up.

Emily and Paolo helped Sophia up. Her eyes fluttered open, still dazed, and when she saw the car go up in flames, her stomach dropped. She hadn’t even gotten the chance to grill Chloe about whether someone else was calling the shots behind all this.
