269 Chapter 269
269.Chapter 269
At Crestview Group, Julian had been away on a business trip for over a month, but he and Sophia kept in touch every other day by phone or text. She knew his project was progressing well, so she felt reassured
Meanwhile, things at Crestview Group were running smoothly.
The only thing was, Sophia had been heading over to Foster Group for meetings more often lately, sometimes for the regular weekly meetings, sometimes for last-minute strategy sessions.
There were all sorts of meetings, and she’d already made several trips to the Southern Development Zone to check on progress.
The port project was the same way. Basically, Sophia had been on the move a lot lately.
But honestly, the best part was that Sophia got to see Easton almost every single day.
May didn’t come by the Crestview Group often to deal with legal stuff, so she was honestly surprised to catch Sophia in the office for once.
Every other time she’d dropped in lately, Emily would just say Sophia was out at another meeting.
“Hey, sweetheart, you’re actually here today? That’s a miracle,” May joked.
Sophia shot her a look, then flopped down on the couch, clearly worn out. “Come over here and lend me your shoulder for a sec.”
May put Sophia’s favorite cake on the coffee table and settle in right next to her.
“May, has my skin gotten worse lately?” Sophia asked.
May gave her a thorough look, then rolled her eyes. “Sophia, are you trying to rub it in? You’ve always been better-skinned than I, and now you’re practically glowing. Where worse?”
Not convinced, May grabbed Sophia’s face and turned it side to side. “Wait, are you dating someone?” Sophia couldn’t help but laugh, patting May’s hand. “Please, as if. I’m at Foster Group for meetings almost every other day, then off to the Maritime Authority to handle business.
“By the time I get back to Crestview Group, I’m stuck working overtime. I’m drowning in work. Where would I even find the time to meet a guy?”
May gave her a suspicious side-eye. “So, doesn’t that mean you pretty much see Easton almost every single day?”
Sophia just nodded absentmindedly while munching on her cake.
May leaned in even closer. “That sly guy really knows how to play the game, huh?”
Sophia blinked, totally clueless about what May was getting at.
Seeing Sophia still hadn’t caught on, May spelled it out for her. “First, he moves in right next to you, then he ropes you into working together on the Southern Development Zone project.
“I’ve been onto him since day one. It’s all part of his grand scheme. Anyone with eyes can see he’s after you, and honestly, you know it, too.
“But when his usual tricks didn’t work, I bet he switched it up. Now he’s making sure you run into him every single day, hoping you’ll eventually fall for him just from sheer exposure.”
“Easton always acts all cold and untouchable, like he’s too good for everyone. Who would’ve thought he’d pull out all the stops just to chase after you?” May teased.
Sophia paused, thinking it over. “I won’t deny he tried to pursue me before. But ever since I made it clear I wasn’ t interested, he hasn’t brought it up again, not even once. He hasn’t shown any sign that he’s still interested. “And honestly, I’ve been keeping my distance on purpose. Even though we see each other every day, it’s always in front of a bunch of people, just talking business.
“There’s zero flirting or anything like that. So, you really don’t have to worry. It’s just a normal working

relationship now”
May chuckled, shaking her head, “Sophia, you’re falling right into the fox’s trap, and you dont even know. You haven’t questioned his motives at all. Eastoris a sly one.
“First, he uses work as an excuse to see you every day, then he keeps you so busy with all this overtime fan you don’t even have time to meet other guys.
“Before you know it, he’s the only decent option left in your life, and getting you would be way too easy for him
