309 Chapter 309
309.Chapter 309
When Easton heard Sophia was leaving Jenston tonight to head back to Japoria, his heart sank. His mind was racing with a thousand thoughts.
“Mr. Foster, should we head to the airport?” Gordon asked, seeing Easton hesitate.
Just as Easton was about to step out of the elevator, a sudden thought struck him, and his heart clenched tight, like it was being squeezed by an invisible hand.
He thought, ‘Maybe it is better for her to leave for now. Those files in the Weston family’s hands are a ticking time bomb for her.
‘Once I take care of the Weston family, I will make sure all those secrets stay buried for her, never to see the light of day again.
‘When the time comes, I will go and bring Sophia back myself. I will make sure she never leaves me again, not for the rest of my life.”
After a few seconds, Easton cooled down and stepped back into the elevator, his voice icy as he said, “Let’s go up.” Gordon was puzzled and almost spoke up, but when he saw how cold and stormy Easton’s face looked, he kept quiet. He figured if he said anything else, Easton might just blow up at him.
Once Easton got back to his office, he told Gordon not to let anyone in to disturb him.
Gordon left the office with the files in hand, and just then, Katherine walked over. “Is Mr. Foster back?” she asked.
Gordon held out his hand to stop her and shook his head. He said, “Don’t go in. Mr. Foster’s been in a bad mood lately, and he just personally told me not to let anyone in to bother him.”
Katherine had been planning to go in and report on the Southern Development Zone project, but after hearing what Gordon said, she figured she’d just have to wait until later.
Katherine nodded and said, “Alright.” Then she turned and walked away.
“Ms. Chandler, do you have a minute to come to my office and talk?” Gordon asked.
Katherine was a bit puzzled, but she agreed anyway.
Gordon got straight to the point. He said, “Ms. Chandler, Ms. Roth is leaving Jenston for Japoria today. Could you give her a call and see what’s going on? Or maybe find out when she’ll be back?”
Seeing Katherine stay silent, Gordon added, “There’s been a misunderstanding between Mr. Foster and Ms. Roth. You must’ ve noticed how much Mr. Foster cares about her these days. So, could you please help us out?”
Gordon clasped his hands together, looking genuinely earnest as he pleaded with her.
Katherine listened, understanding what Gordon meant. She gave a small smile and said, “I’ll see what I can do.”
Katherine took out her phone and dialed Sophia’s number.
Sophia had just gotten to the airport when she saw Katherine’s call pop up.
“Hey, Sophia, are you busy?” Katherine asked.
“Not really, I’m at the airport about to fly back to Japoria,” Sophia replied.
Katherine glanced at Gordon, put the call on speaker, and asked, “You’re heading back to Japoria? Is it for work? When are you coming back? I got tickets to a concert next month. Will you be back in time?”
Sophia pushed her luggage toward the boarding gate. She said, “Katherine, I probably won’t be back anytime soon, so I won’ t be able to go with you to the concert. I’m really sorry.”
“No worries, have a safe trip. We’ll catch up when you’re back,” Katherine said.
After hanging up, Katherine shrugged, looking helpless. She said, “That’s all I can do.”
Once Katherine left, Gordon sighed heavily.
