Willow's smile froze for a moment, but she quickly masked it with graceful poise. "Of course. You should join Team 1; otherwise, Ms. Yeats would be too heartbroken."
By the time all the shuffling was done, it was noon. Yvette stood up, and she and Willow took their respective rosters to Director Stern's office.
Eleanor scanned the lists and frowned slightly. "Why does Team 1 only have three people? Team 2 has seven. That's too unbalanced. Move Blythe over to Team 1, and you need to pick two more people."
"That won't be necessary. The three of us can finish Team 1's tasks on schedule," Yvette replied, trying to reject Blythe.
"Team 1 has six paintings, and the most difficult piece is among them. While Team 2 also has six, their difficulty level isn't nearly as high. Team 1 needs at least one more person."
"Blythe will move to Team 1," Eleanor finalized.
"Understood," Yvette agreed, transferring Blythe's name to her roster.
The two women walked back to the Team 2 workspace.
As they pushed the door open, Yvette immediately spotted a familiar figure.
Jabez was standing next to Willow. "I hope everyone can look out for Willow during the upcoming project. Let me extend my thanks in advance."
The man's deep, resonant voice echoed through the room.
To Yvette, it sounded like nails on a chalkboard.
"Mr. Shelby, you ordered lunch for everyone from The Vervain, and Starbucks for afternoon tea? Are you trying to bribe us?" Blythe teased with a laugh.
Standing by the door, Yvette stiffened. She scanned the room and noticed that the desks were indeed covered with takeout bags bearing The Vervain's logo, alongside Starbucks cups.
The Vervain never offered takeout; he clearly had to throw around a massive amount of money to make this happen.
An order from there cost four figures easily. He really was willing to spare no expense for Willow.
"You could say that," the man replied, a hint of a smile in his voice.
